WE THE PEOPLE!? Three magnificent words, and only 13 letters in length! A short sentence actually, but one that totally encompasses the building blocks of true democracy and self-determination!

When our Constitution was penned in 1787, there was far less than 4 million people residing within the fledgling United States. These original patriots were contained within but 13 Colonies, but their ambitions stretched from sea to shining sea! And out of their dreams, were manufactured a ?Mighty Democratic Empire? the likes of which this world had never seen before!

Somehow, somewhere however, the words ?We The People? have managed to lose parts of their luster and power. Originally, the words ?We The People? and ?Popular Majority? were one and the same! A Popular Majority being a system where the people, and only the people, hold the power. Unfortunately, at least in my opinion, the power of the people has sometimes been over-shadowed or watered down by the scant few who seek to totally dominate and control.

Now this is not to say that power and ambition do not have their places within our system of tolerance and equality for all. But when that power and wealth becomes the sole impetus and motivation of the connected few, then the hard-earned rights of the many often fall prey to the whims and demands of the absolutely vested!

When this occurs, and when the people themselves obediently accept a gradual erosion of their self-evident rights, then that nation too is lessened by those who?s only goal is to gain control over the entirely of creation.

We can not and must not silently accept this irreverent attempt to reconstruct our Constitution, and with it, our nation as well! Truly, ?We The People? must remain the ultimate power of this land, as well as the nourishing brook from which our democratic government drinks. A government that, unless it remains ?Of, By and For The People? will most assuredly slip from our grasp, and indeed, maybe even from the pages of history itself!
