Thumbs down UN's Largest Support comes from US dollars!

The US pays the lion's share of UN funding.
ALL ARAB states combined pay only 5 percent!

It is time for the US to get out of the UN and for the UN to get out of the US!
If you don't know why, you have not been paying attention.

In case you misunderstood:

It is time for the US to get out of the UN and for the UN to get out of the US!

What's the UN got to do with NATO? What's the real problem?

the US are obliged to pay the most, but they simply do not pay, or pay lately...

If something doesn't work - why have it?

The UN issues are no longer carrying any substance. Each nations agenda takes presidence and that's the way it will always be.

World peace and harmoneous relations are no longer the key issues - its all economics and which country can sell the most weapons to those who have the bucks to buy them.

The UN is obsolete in many ways. NATO fortunately is still hanging together on most of the key issues.

However, why is it always the American's Brit's or Aussie's who have to muster the troops? Why are they the only ones with any backbones - to make a decision or take up arms? Why is it other countries seem to lack any unity or strength or be there when needed or called upon?

Old Europe is just that - its OLD. Old school and old ways of thinking. Have they been beaten so bad that they can't stand up for the real tough issues? Drugs, Terrorist, Thugs and other low lifes that roam the world.

By isolating themselves it doesn't really protect them from the outside influences. Rather it builds decent and becomes archaic. What a shame - they are rusting and obsolescent in many ways.

They must not have anything worth fighting and dying for or is it just a plain withdraw from the world issues and hope it goes away?

Too bad - together we would have made big strides in the world peace issues.

Sitting on your fence doesn't make other's think you are talented rather it makes us suspecious and that you have something to hide.

Some day you may need us again? And guess what? We will be there for you - that's because that's the way we are and being united to a cause is our way of thinking.

So ponder this and try to get the big picture into focus.

What Boats said. And a couple of questions.

How manyUN countries run to our aid when we have a natural disaster? And has anyone thatmoans about us not paying our dues ever sat down and counted the cost of what we send in assistance and aid when a natural disaster hits another nation?

Well, maybe our dues paying is not on the books at the UN.You can take this to the bank though:

Theyshow up everycouple of weeksin the form of Federal Income Tax dollars taken out of theAmericanworkerspay check for aid and assistance to countries that come to the table of the UN to insult us on almost a daily basis.

It is probable that if the U.S. State Department had not been run roughshod over this past Winter, then under U.N. mandates, had they been supported, strengthened and allowed to carry on, Americans would have buried far fewer, or none, of our warriors in any of the 120+ national military cemeteries... and there would have been no "collateral damage" to explain away.

"I have seen that in any great undertaking it is not enough for a man to depend simply upon himself.", and the same goes for nations.

When the UN was formed the majority of member nations were at least nominal democracies. Now there are only about 25 or 30 of the 190 or so member nations that even pretend to be democratic. It has become the biggest US bashing forum in the world. My personal feeling is that we should move the UN to Haiti, they need the business.

Name one military operation headed by the UN that was a success. Can't count Korea, that was US.

Now name one peacekeeping mission headed by the UN that wasn't a failure. There aren't any. The longest running mission the UN has been involved in has been in the Kashmir, and, boy, that's a rousing success.

Ok Fred, why is the US obliged to pay the most? If we deducted the parking tickets owed to the city of NY by UN members, they would owe us money. I'm glad Bush appointed someone who doesn't like the outfit to represent us.

Australia has always sent fire fighters to your California Fires and also help in New Orleans Louisiana disaster... dont remember if Mexico, Canada, England or France did the same and we are only a country of 21 million strong. I think New Zealand had a couple of people in the Australian team that helped fight your fires.
