(USA) James E. Bussey, originally from Childress, Texas and a graduate of Texas Tech University (BA, 1965; MA, 1970), served in the U.S. Army from 1968 until 1970. He went to Vietnam in January 1969 as a Communication Center Specialist with the Communications Center Platoon, A Co., 53rd Signal Battalion, II Field Forces Base Camp (Plantation Base Camp). James was an operator at TOC Communication Center and TRIC (Transmit Receive Interface Controller) Chief at the Main Communication Center. After his tour ended in January 1970, James went to Communications Center Company, East Coast Telcom Center, USAR Startcom, at Ft. Deterick, Maryland, where he retired from the U.S. Army in August 1970. Interview conducted by Richard B. Verrone, Ph.D.

Description: (USA) Margarethe Cammermeyer was born in Oslo, Norway, in 1942. She immigrated to the United States in 1951, and in 1963 earned a BS in Nursing from the University of Maryland, where she participated in the Army Student Nurse program. She attended Officers' Basic Course training at Ft Sam Houston TX, and was posted to Ft Benning GA; Nuremburg, West Germany; and Ft Lee VA. Margarethe arrived in Vietnam in February 1967, and was assigned to the Medical Intensive Care Unit and Neurosurgical intensive Care wards at the 24th Evac Hospital, Long Binh. In 1968 she was posted to Ft Lewis WA. She entered the Army Reserve in 1972 while working at Veterans' Administration hospitals in Washington and California. After earning a PhD in Nursing in 1991, she retired from the Army Reserve as a Colonel in 1996. Margarethe is the author of 'Serving in Silence' (1994), and she remains active as a consultant and lecturer.
