So here are few helpful tips for the month of August courtesy of the center that can help everyone stationed in the United Kingdom whether at RAFs Menwith Hill or Croughton or anywhere in between. Financial Tip of the Month - Crisis Steps to Take If Budget Deficits Occur Repeatedly If you always run out of money before the month is over, you may need to take some drastic steps to get your finances under control. Consider the following: 1. Stop using credit cards. 2. Spend only cash and leave debit and credit cards at home. 3. Stop making ATM withdrawals and getting cash back from purchases to use for pocket money. 4. Reduce or stop spending on luxuries such as eating out, clothing, movies, entertainment, memberships, hobbies, CD’s, DVDs, and expanded cable channels. 5. Drop landline telephone service and use only a cell phone. 6. Use a list when shopping and stick to it. 7. Avoid shopping malls and discount stores. 8. Sell an asset, especially one that requires additional expenses, such as a second car. 9. Move to lower cost housing. 10. Increase income by working overtime or finding a second job. Your local Airman and Family Readiness Centers and Family Support Centers are there to help, go see them to keep your finances out of crisis. Career Tip of the Month Your job search is not about you. To compete you need to convey to perspective employers the value you bring to the company. Targeting your cover letter to specifically address the needs of the company is a surefire way to get noticed. Hiring managers are impressed when they can see the candidate has taken the time to research the company and has shown how they will contribute to company success.
