Default a few things to say

I have a few things to say. Recently Col. Murph had some things to say about Max Cleland. You may wonder why I went off on him. Well a good friend of mine died in Vietnam due to an accident with 5 grenades. I can only hope that no one on here with sons or daughters in Iraq die from friendly fire or other "stupid means." The below was posted by a friend of mine who lived just down the street from me where I grew up.

I was a childhood friend of Gene Lammey and the Lammey family of the Frayser-Westside area of Memphis, Tenn. I spent many a day hanging out at the Lammey household and running around with Gene and James. Sneaking rides on the horse across the street from my house, playing football down by the Harvester plant, hanging around school or the baseball/football fields behind the school. Going to parties, chasing girls, and being a bunch of typical Frayser kids.

Gene Lammey was my good friend, a person I grew up with and always liked, admired and loved. I considered the Lammey's part of my family as they welcomed me with open arms and let us kids play and enjoy doing the things kids do. Gene was an easygoing guy with a infectious, mischievous smile and the world was a better place for having known him.

I would love to hear from anyone who could put me in contact with the rest of the Lammey family, especially James and his mom, since it's been over 30 years since I've had news of the Lammey family.

I can be reached at trust@yifan.net or r_t2@yahoo.com or talas1@earthlink.net .

Anyone who can put me in contact with the family, please write me.

I would also love to hear from any of the neighborhood and Westside people.

From a neighborhood and school friend of Gene and James Lammey, Good People!!,
formerly of 3164 Harvester St, the corner of Marsh and Harvester Lane, Memphis, Tenn.

Sounds Of Silence Lyrics
Artist: Simon & Garfunkel
Album: Sounds Of Silence

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools", said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence

Thanks Gimpy ! There is a lot more I could say about comments by some on here and the deafening silence by others...but I will just let it go. I am going away for awhile. Too much stress here.
I appreciate you Gimpy.

Fred :

I respect what you said. However, if someone came to this site and said things about you I thought were way out of line, I would certainly defend you, by posting my thoughts. In 30 years ( maybe less ) Vietnam will be a very dim memory in most people's minds and most of us will be gone. I am not going to sit on my hands and hold my tongue when my brothers are dis-respected. It seems there are two Colonels on here who get a free ride and can say whatever they want, no matter how wrong it is. So be it.
I sure as hell am going to say what I think too. The rest of the silent majority can choose to say nothing, if that is how they choose to react.

Default Well I figure that

Everone has a right to say whatever they please. Just because it pisses of one person dosen't mean it pisses of all. Besides, I don't have a clue about what was was said by, to, for, or about.
