Default God and the Constitution

God and All 50 State Constitutions

"Those people who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants."
William Penn
"They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq.
Why don't we just give them ours?

Jimmy,

Very interesting list you posted here... never saw that before.

I could have this way wrong, even after so many cobwebbed years of serious study

However...

a. The God who would be written into the Iraqi Constitution is, as interpreted (apparently) by his legions of followers, determined that there is NO other God than Allah, and (somewhere in his Holy Koran) it clearly must state that every follower's ideal is to kill the unbelievers... not to mention that "Iraq" is a fictitious nation whose borders were created by a colonial Imperial power (Britain) with half the world's tacit agreement... spells trouble in large letters.

b. Our Constitution has some serious defects, very serious defects, produced in total secret against the mandate of the people who sent those fellows to Philadelphia back then... once I read Patrick Henry's version of what happened at the convention my whole attitude about the Constitution changed considerably...

Just thoughts...

Hawk
You can be sure the constitution written for Iraq will not include the same God that was referred to in our constitution. When our constitution was was writgen 200 years ago, I doubt there were any Muslim signers. Our constitution although flawed is still the best one in existence. The post was intended to show that ours was meant to have God included instead of stripped out.

Times change,
we don't need buggy wips anymore.
The people that wrote the constitution were christans and so was everyone else in America at that time, Not anymore, Personaly, I don't belive in any religon, But If I was to pick one it would most likely be The Budda guy, They have been around for 5,000 years instead of 2,000 for christans.
Religon had a place in our government one time, it doesn't anymore, Which one do you choose to represent all the people in America? Or is it just YOUR God that needs to be reresented in the Constitution?
Religon is and should be personal. What ever you want to belive in, is your business, But if you try to include religon in the government then you must also include ALL religons, unless your government just represents your religon and I think not.

Religion has never had a place in our government. The mention of God by our government has nothing to do with religion. It is simply an acknowledgment of a higher power. Unfortunately, most people alive today, do not have the ability to understand this concept. They now blindly rally behind those who would remove the last vestiges of conscience and humility from our society.

The mention of God in our constitution had everything to do with the Christan religon, its what the writers belived in and most everyone else that was here at the time.
No one is trying to remove anything for society, Christans can still belive in Christianity and Jews can belive in Jewdisum and Muslems can belive in the Koran and so on. What is trying to be done is remove religon from government, Because the God and the Bible and the 10 commandments are Christan religous symbols and the Government that is for all the people can't be for one religon.
People can pray to what ever God they want to, any time they want to.
A Church is nothing more than a Building, that people come to once a week and try to brib the church into thinking they are some kind of good person because they give money to the building, To me that is stupid, But I would never say anything bad about someone and there religon, If going to church once a week and giving money makes you feel good , than I would say Good for you.
I don't want my kids taught any of the religons, I will tell them what I think and what all the religons are about and when they get older they can make up there own mind if they want to belive in Christianity or not, Its not going to be because thats what they are taught in school or drilled into there head at sunday school.
Most people that are religous belive that there religon is the only one and the rest of the world is wrong. There is no argue for that, its what they belive.

Religon and Government don't mix. Tell a Muslem to put his hand on the bible and swear to God that he will tell the truth?

Default The "history" of God ?

39M has correctly stated that Christianity has only been around for approximaely 2,000 years, and that Buddism has been around approximately 5,000 years. However, the belief in a supreme being, referred to by virtually ALL of the world's civilizations through the ages as GOD, has been in practice since the dawn of mankind. Some may call His name Allah, others God, some even refer to Him as Jehovah. The main thing here is that whatever His name, it is man and man alone that has perverted His laws and teachings.
God gave man 10 commandments. Man then took those 10 commandments and made them into over 150,000 "laws". These "laws" are at best extremely countermanding and thus insure that no man can possibly live up to them.
Budda, Mohammed, Ghandi and all of the other prophets never claimed to BE God and , in fact, admonished their followers to abstain from any worship of the prophets as divine persons. Instead, each and every one tried to point their followers to the One Supreme Being we refer to today as God.
Christianity didn't come into being as a religion until Jesus began His earthly ministry. He NEVER claimed to be a prophet, as Mohommed, Budda, and many others. Instead, He claimed to be the very Son of God. He proved it through His miracles, which no other before Him or after Him has been able to do. He proved it through His bodily resurrection, which was witnessed to by other 5,000 people in the 40 days followiing His resurrection.
For Bluehawk to say that the Koran states that Allah wants his followers to kill all the non-believers in the world is false. The Koran does NOT state this, and neither did Mohommed. It is the
power-hungry Imams that have come after Mohommed which have taught this falacy, by twisting and pervertiing the teachings of Mohommed.
Just as the Jews refuse to believe the very eye-witness accounts of the miracles of Jesus, Muslims who have only been taught selected passages of the Koran believe that it is Allah's wish that they kill any and everyone which does not believe as they.
Stop driving the wedge ever deeper between the various religions of the world by spouting falsehoods and lies. Thisd only furthers re-enforces the ignorantance of the followers of the Imans today.
Virtuallu every religion believes in a single supreme being. Even those that believe in a multi-diety religion also believe that one diety is above all others. Yes, even atheists believe in asupreme being; man himself.
But enough. I'm sure by now I've already enticed many responses. I'm outta here !
