Question How did the World Series Celebrations Go?

Is Boston still there?

Is NEW ENGLAND still there?

Wednesday night I felt a slight tremor off and on. Florida doesn't have earthquakes. Seems like they came out of the north!

There were about 40 arrests in Boston and about 70 injuries. The celebrations were actually a bit subdued due to the unfortunate death of a 21 year old student who was hit in the eye with a pepper spray pellet fired by a mounted cop (there is a investigation about this incident) during the post-ALCS celebrations.

Several colleges in New England have announced expulsions due to excessive celebrations amongst the students where private property was damaged and/or destroyed. Plymouth State in NH has already expelled 14 students and said there will be many more once the video tapes have been properly studied.

There was a small celebratory program at the State House yesterday where Gov. Romney proclaimed it Red Sox Week and unfurled a giant banner congratulating the Sox. Only Jason Veritec and Manny Ramirez made it, while Pedro Martinez and David Ortiz were in DisneyWorld.

There's a big parade scheduled for today through Boston where they expect some 4-5 MILLION people to attend.

Boston Celebration Update!

Another first for the Red Sox! The victory parade was actually a 7 mile long "rally" that included the team riding the Boston "Duck" Boats onto the Charles River and being cheered by fans on the Boston and Cambridge sides.

Manny Ramirez held up a sign that said "Derek Jeter is playing golf; This is better!"

Gotta throw my Yankee fan dibs in there. Nice job Sox. A long deserved victory. No hard feelings, just a bad ALCS for us Yankee fans. How the ---- can you be three outs away from a sweep and lose the whole thing? Steinbrenner is gonna get to the bottom of this. Oh well.
On an historic look, it's the first time a team was up three and lost the next four. It's the first time in history two teams going into the ALCS had identical team averages. It's also the first time in history that both AL and NL went all seven games at the same time.
Nice job!

That sign will go down in history! LOL!

I can see it now...

A hundred years from now, some kid will be studying famous quotes from Massachusetts history:

"One if by land, two if by sea..."

"Your Honor...we, the jury, find the defendant, Miss Elizabeth Borden, NOT GUILTY."

"Jeter is playing golf today. This is better!"

Got a kind of a ring to it, doncha think?

Unfortunately the Sox have several free agent issues due. Both Derek Lowe and Pedro Martinez as well as Orlando Cabrerra and Jason Veritek. I don't know if they can afford to keep all of them. Ironically enough, Nomar Garciaparra is also a free agent. Back to Boston, maybe?
