How about "The creature from the black lagoon" and "It came from outer space" and Bela Lagosi's last movie "Plan 9 from planet X" or something like that. I always thought the classic "War of the Worlds" by H G Wells was about WWIII.

Hoyin,

It was a dfferent world back then. The government wasn't in your face everyday like now. You very rarely heard anything about them. And still in the afterglow of victory in WWII, people actually trusted their government. I'm sure we all would have lined up in neat little rows and marched into the shelters.

Default A Coinceadence

Or Co-inky-dink, since I can't spell coincidinse. CNN this morning had a blurb about movies and communisim. They used Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but missed the Thing. They also used War of the Worlds, which surpised me. I thought it was just a movie from Well's book, which I read about 10 times along with the Time Machine. Good grab buddy!

I would also agree that in the 50's we did believe what our government was saying. I do miss the clarity of the 50's. One of the reasons I wanted a shelter was that I was gonna survive! I truly believed that.

Red face Folk Music of the Sixties

I never cared too much for Dylan, Guthrie, etc.
I liked the tunes and the message, but the performances were a bit too "unpolished" for me.

My taste ran toward The Kingston Trio, Peter.Paul, & Mary, New Christy Minstrels, Joan Baez, and Buffy St. Marie.

What would be the word? - "Commercial Folk Music" I guess.

Unhappy Rigger!!!

You don't like Dylan or Arlo? You just got scratch off my "A" party list. I know you won't loose any sleep over that and thanks for letting me know. I was going to burn you a CD of "our" music. Maybe I'll just go down there and sing to you.

By the way, we see Arlo every year, at least once. Alice's song is now about a hour and a half long and Very funny.

Stay healthy,
Andy
PS: Joan Baez was almost as bad as Hanio Jane.

Cool A few more memories

Inna gadda of edda - Iron butterfly (pardon the spelling on this one!
Cyrstal ship - Doors
Light my fire - Doors
All around the watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
Manic Depresion - Jimi Hendrix
Foxy Lady - Jimi Hendrix
The Star-Spangled Banner - Jimi Hendrix
Sunshine of my love - Cream
Cocaine - Cream
Lay, Lady, Lay - Dillan
California Dreamin' - Mamas & Pappas
Hey Jude - Beatles
Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones
Jumping Jack flash - Rolling Stones
Tommy - The Who
Cherish - The Association
Homeward Bound - Simon & Garfunkle
Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkle
The Letter - Boxtops
Rocky Raccoon - the Beatles
A Day in the life - the Beatles

It's truly amazing, how once you get the memories started, how hard it is to come back to the present. I'm sure we could all build a list that could run into the hundreds or even thousands of one to five word titles that would trigger vast memories for each and every one of us.
Over in the 'Nam, all I could think of was getting back home to my high-school sweatheart and my friends. Once was finally back home, all I could think of was my brothers who didn't make it back home and those still over there.

Welcome home, Brothers. May all your trips down Memory Lane be pleasent ones and may we never forget our brothers.

Default five to one baby...

...one in five...
...just couldn't sleep last night,(again), and started popping off some lines from songs to try to relax, and remember the time when rock, and roll wasn't some asshole just screaming to scream...
...I'm sure that everyone could add 100's to it as there were so many songs that touched us all in very special ways, the music isn't anywhere near the mastery that the songwriters of the 60's, and early 70's had...
...wishing you all the best during your summer, and rock on, in memory of your brothers...
......A winter's day...

Talking Andy...

You gonna come down here and sing to me?

You gonna wear that slinky black slit-up-the-side gown that I heard about?
