Default Cause of the Civil War
Ok, if anyone read my post on the one world govt, here is a spin off. WHo belives the cause of the Civil War was over states rights, slavery or anyother cause you believe is relevant. I believe it was over slavery becasue the reason the South seceded was becasuse of Lincoln's speech saying he would "stop and put an end to slavery". And the south felt threatened and the only way to maintain its economy was by seceding and declaring war. thats my view. tell me yours. thanks.

However, Slavery and States Rights are interwoven. The end to slavery was being practise by civilized nations around the world. The South (those who were in touch with reality) knew that slavery would eventually be abolished world wide, but they knew they could delay it through claiming states rights. Also, much of the South did not believe in a strong central government. Sooo... it really was a combination of factors.

I'm the self appointed, unofficial, therapist on this site. I must warn you that there are some real characters on this site. So be very careful. We have some guys on this site who were raised on Farms out west. Those farm boys own guns and know how to shoot them. Now, thats scary. Red neck farmers shooting guns. You have a Conservative Southern Baptist - Social Worker, a conservative from Massachusettes - a liberal from the South, and a Boeing Worker from Seattle, now these people just aren't normal this is a scary site. Becareful, you just don't know who is reading your replies.
