Agent orange was even more widespread than combat areas or in the air.

PHO127, you didn't have to "go walk in it in the bush".

By the end, when Darrel was there, people were automatically considered to be contaminated just by being 'in country'. It was in the water.

Default Of course not

Anyone handling that stuff is subject to AO exposure. My point was that only a relative few of the soldiers were exposed. Same with PTSD, you get it by being exposed to Traumatic stress. Police, Firefighters face it every day. Not mechanics, or cooks. There are exceptions. The rear area folks have their own devils to play with, Boredom and idle time, Both devils playground. Hence drug addiction, but don't blame it on combat experience in VN.

Default Sid

I was up at the Salem Va PTSD Program the last few days for an eval to get back for another round. I wore my Psycovet t-shirt. It was a major hit.
My company was at Bien Hoa for a month. We were right next to the Green Line on the Army side. I remember being amazed that there was a desert in Vietnam. It had to be Agent Orange. I did see about five c-130s with spraying attachments fly out of there every day. As far as you could see there was no living vegetation. I take that back, there was one dead tree about a quarter mile out. Some crazy gook got in the tree and started sniping at us. They brought up a 90 mm recoiless rifle on a jeep and started shooting at the tree. Every time they shot, this round would come zinging back. It took them about five shots to finally hit the tree. Crazy, shooting it out with a recoiless rifle. He did hit one of our guys in the heel but I think it was more luck than skill.
