Default A-10 Thunderbolt goes Anti-Personnel

The USAF A-10 Thunderbolt (nicknamed "Warthog") is
well known for it's close-support capability,
and the ability of depleted uranium rounds from its GAU-8 30mm automatic cannon to penetrate armor.

One doesn't normally consider that cannon as an anti-personnel weapon, however as this video shows,
it seems to lack nothing in that role.

On a night mission, this A-10 engaged 4 terrorists returning to their ops base after setting an IED.

Range is about two miles.
Ammo is 4:1 mix of PGU-13/B HEI High Explosive Incendiary and PGU-14/B API Armor Piercing Incendiary [DU]
Rate of fire: 3900 rpm.
Muzzle velocity: 3200 feet per second.
Accuracy: At 5 miles, 80% of rounds hit within a 20 ft radius.

The voice you hear is the Forward Air Controller. Note the dog in the upper right area of the display. He comes out unscathed!
You'll see the video shake a little as the rounds are fired.

WARNING: While this video is not "gory" it does depict violent termination of human life and may be disturbing to some.
You may wish to choose not to view it.

I just noticed; that dog or whatever the hell it was, was at least smart enough to get the hell out of there!

82 it looks like you have discovered a new but as of yet unnoticed feature of this forum, you can paste the url of almost any major video site video (i.e. you tube, photobucket, yahoo video etc.) and it will automatically embed the video in the post

David,

Yeah! Works great, don't it?

I had to do some experimenting...some of the "embedding" codes require the video to buffer numerous times during play.

This one seems to give a continuous streaming video.

You should not even have to work the codes, simply try pasting the url in and posting and it should add the codes automatically, your mileage may vary
