Post Wind & Spring!

We always know when spring arrives in Ellensburg.

Wednesday we had wind: 40 mph 65 mph gusts
Thursday we had wind: 14 mph 20 mph gusts
Friday we are having wind: 25 mph 45 mph gusts.

We now will have wind almost everyday until July. All our trees bend East, South East in honor of the wind.

Cause of the Wind: Snoqualmie Pass, the lowest point in the Cascade Range (3,100 ft) allows the air (wind) from the west of the state of Washington to funnel down into the Kittitas Valley. Ellensburg, know as one of the windest spots in the USA.

Building Codes require that all shingles be (Hurricane Shingles) and nailed not stapled on the roof. We had a builder come in and try to get away with the requirement. After he had finished his job we had a big wind. 60% of the shingles blew off. Fortunately for him, no rain came with the wind.

We never get hurricanes or tornadoes so I shouldn't complain but I know that for the next 3 to 4 months we'll be getting lots of wind.

Boy I get tired of Wind.

Keith

Keith.....boy do I know what your talking about. The Texas Panhandle gets nasty winds. All the prairie trees that don't get struck by lightening are always leaning. The other day it was in the 50's with higher gusts.

We get the wind all the time but just now coming on the bad season too. Not sure where ours comes from...guessing off the mountains in NM...though not sure.

Saw the first sign of spring today...a dead robin frozen to a tree!

Talking LT John

LT.

You must be a prophet. The winds are still blowing. Well today in Church we had an extra big gust of wind. Must have been close 70 mph or bigger. It blew the doors to church open. Someone had to pop up and say, "well we always knew our pastor had plenty wind." Everyone laughed! You would have enjoyed the moment. My self image is now irrepairably damaged.

Keith

P.S.

Steady wind today of around 40 mph with gusts going higher, boy am I getting tired of wind and its only been two weeks since the winds started
