Recalling the memories
Today I was working in the yard a little bit, I had the radio in my Blazer on and was listening to the oldies. Somewhere I got lost in time, I started to remember the guys in my squad while I was with the 4th ID, the songs made me remember where in the Central Highlands I was when certain songs came on, the Animals came on with "We gotta get out of this place" and I thought about Dak To. I was wondering about the guys I served with, and ho close we got and the love we shared for each other, and the way we knew we could depend on each other. Man I haven't found that since. I don't think I ever will again. I have found some of the closeness on this site, and am glad to know I can say this and not be judged. Since I've retired from the service I only trust vets, and my friends who are civilians are vets. I don't think anyone understands us accept each other. Thanks for letting an old soldier feel that remembering is okay.

Don't know if your interested but have you checked out the 4th ID association? When I first got on the Internet found the 25th association. From there discovered my old infantry bat and my old chopper company have their own web sites. I've met nearly a dozen men I knew from across the pond. It's a real rush.
Never forget the first time my wife met 2 of these guys. She looked to one of the other wives and said, "I always knew my husband was crazy but their all crazy!" The other wives nodded and us guys smiled and kept drinking. Your right, that bond lasts forever. And that is a good thing. Stay healthy, Andy |

Robert, thanks for your Welcome on the "new members forum".
As Andy suggests, the 4th ID website is a place to find your old buddies. My regimental association-the 15th Artillery-has located over 700 men that served while deployed to Paradise. BTW, my battery had the honor and pleasure of supporting elements of 25th during my tour. Last edited by 82Rigger; 07-14-2008 at 01:04 AM. |

Andy, CHas, I am a member of the 4th ID Assocation, and also have the 4th ID site in my favorites, I have been able to chat with a couple of guys I knew in Vietnam. Guess that day was just one of those "I remember when days." As the song goes, those were the days my friend, we thought they never end.
