Default An AK47 from files and a hacksaw

From rec.guns:

Nope, it is legal. You will ned to have at least 7 American made parts in
your spiffy AK. The next thing to ask yourself is do you have the mechanic
skills to pull it off? You will need more than a drill press to make an AK.
The kit usually has the reciever cut in pieces. You will need to buy a
receiver or make one from a templated chunk of sheet metal, install rails
and weld the whole mess together. You will also be well served with a
vertical mill, lacking one of those, you will need an assortment of files
and a way to flatten rivets. WHat you will have then is a firearm without a
serial number. Again, legal...but you will never be able to transfer it
without listing it with the ATF and giving it a serial number.

Please don't let me rain on your parade. But before you take on one of
these, do a google search on building an AK47 rifle and read up. Also, your
AK will need to be semi auto. You will never get permission from the ATF for
a select fire or full auto weapon. Just keep that in mind.

Oh, does this mean I need to return my "kit?"

Rita, who was looking forward to flattening rivets (We can't flatten Anthony
much further)

Yes, and that "Destroy Before Reading?" is priceless. I have no idea how
long Bill and ted and I have been pounding on him now, but it seems like
years.

Can we be held responsible if we push him the tiny fraction of an inch required
to put him completely over the edge?
