Vietnam vet sentenced to up 35 years in prison for shotgun slaying

Randall F. Reniger, the Lansing man who pleaded guilty last month to
fatally shooting a visitor to his apartment, will serve between 18 and
35 years in state prison.

Reniger, 53, was sentenced Wednesday morning by Ingham County Circuit
Court Judge James Giddings for the second-degree murder of Kelly Fox.

Fox had been talking with Reniger at his dining-room table at his
Capitol City Commons apartment the night of Oct. 20, 2000, when
Reniger walked to a bedroom to retrieve a loaded shotgun, then
returned and shot him.
