Reading Recommendation

I am in the middle of reading THE SECOND WORLD WAR by
Winston S. Churchill...six volumes of about 600 pages each.
This is an almost day by day account of WW2 through the eyes of
Britain's famous Prime Minister.

Absolutely fascinating reading. I never realized how close England came to speaking German...and how close the Aussies came to speaking Japanese!

Over 43,000 civilians killed in the bombing raids on England in May to Sept 1940.

This is an EXCELLENT read if you like war documentaries.

Is that part of the series that includes "The Gathering Storm" and "Their Finest Hour"? The nice thing about reading Churchill is you can sort of hear him saying every word. The bad thing is he gave Monty too much credit.
Make sure to tell us when your finished reading the last book. I'd like to know who won.

He got the Nobel Prixe for Literature for that. His History of the English Speaking People is excellent too.

Yep! That's the set of books I'm reading.

The Gathering Storm, Their Finest Hour, The Grand Alliance,
The Hinge of Fate, Closing the Ring, Triumph and Tragedy.

I'm reading volume four now. Tojo has been kicking British and American butts all over the Pacific...but... he hasn't been introduced to the U.S. Marines yet.

He has, however, been introduced to U.S. aircraft carrier pilots at Coral Sea and Midway, who have converted four Imperial fleet aircraft carriers into homes for moray eels.

Meanwhile, in eastern Europe, the Germans have paid a visit to their Russian neighbors. They over-stayed their welcome and many of them forgot their overcoats. They are not happy campers.

I'll let you know how it all comes out.
