Pentagon Changes Mind, USS Nimitz To Stay In The Middle East
By: Andrew Jose - The Daily Caller News - 01-04-21 Re: https://dailycaller.com/2021/01/04/i...ian-gulf-navy/ The United States reversed Sunday evening a decision to bring home the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, citing Iranian threats. The roughly 100,000 ton warship will remain in the Persian Gulf, where it has been patrolling since late November, CBS News reported. “Due to the recent threats issued by Iranian leaders against President Trump and other U.S. government officials, I (DOD or the Pentagon) have ordered the USS Nimitz to halt its routine redeployment,” Acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller announced Sunday. - “The USS Nimitz will now remain on station - in the U.S. Central Command area of operations. No one should doubt the resolve of the United States of America.” Photo link: https://twitter.com/NavalInstitute/s...n-gulf-navy%2F Pentagon: Carrier USS Nimitz Will Stay in Middle East After Threats from Iran - USNI News ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal note: The Nimitz isn't out there alone she has her Escorts and Submarine assigned to protect here against any attack. Every carrier I was on had escorts and a submarine (that only came up at night) during Nam. No U.S. Capitol ship's go to sea without escorts - and a submarine - it's always there but you may never see it at sea. - But it's there! - Boats
