Pour the kerosine on it and light it up!
Let?s see now; Revelry, the morning after arriving in country. MP out of Saigon lines all of us FNG's up and orders all of the EM?s to take one step forward. Me, being always a little slow, stay in place and besides, my ID card says Cpl. E-4. How was that MP supposed to know that I had been busted to Pvt. E-2 before being rudely shipped to VN. They couldn?t tell any better with all of us standing there in our shiny new jungle fatigues without any chevrons. Momma didn?t raise no fools and EM?s did all of the work, NCO?s did the ordering for work. EM?s burned the shit that morning while I helped supervise, thank you very much for your thoroughness. Hope that wasn?t you.
Welcome home brother. Think your going to like it here.

Thanks for the warm reception
To one and all
Thanks for the warm reception. To Paco and James- I am a domestic liberal. After all, that is what we all fought for, the right to believe and voice our own ideas and hopes for the future. You guys on the right need to loosen up and accept the fact there are new and different ideas in the world that may not always agree with yours. Concerning foreign policy - my students rate me somewhere to the right of Atilla the Hun, whose famous philosophy of "Kill them all! Let God sort them out!" may be the best avenue of American foreign policy action today. I also believe that if we pay the money (foreign aid and support) you dance by our tunes or dont take the money. From the dark days - I did not lose the war nor did my brothers and sisters. Ours was a noble cause that was stolen from us by the politicians and the press, and was ignored and forgotten by the American people. I and my brothers and sisters served with honor, did our duty, kept faith with each other when the America people did not. I firmly believe in using the system but I dont trust the government - right or left. cwilkens/ 716 MP BN/ Saigon/ 1967- 68 |

An interesting reply, to a tongue in cheek post.
I'll quote: "I am a domestic liberal. After all, that is what we all fought for, the right to believe and voice our own ideas and hopes for the future"
"You guys on the right need to loosen up and accept the fact there are new and different ideas in the world that may not always agree with yours". Political Correctness, a liberal idea, stifles voiceing our own ideas and hopes for the future. Since when is the right to believe and voice our own ideas just a liberal cause? Try voiceing your own ideas in any major University today and see what happens. If it's a liberal idea, your free to voice it. If not.....watch what happens to your grade. As far as loosening up, thats funny. Communisim, socialism, fascism, were all "new and different ideas" at one time. I guess we needed to lighten up and allow them to all have a crack at democracy. I don't suppose there are any new ideas that "the right" has that liberals don't agree with? Maybe they need to "lighten up" also. I see most of these "new ideas" have plunged our public shcools into 3rd world status, but gee, I need to lighten up and watch with glee as the dumbing down of all are schools and universities take place. Sorry bro, about the only thing I agree with you on is that there are crappy people that need not be trusted on both sides. Other than that, I was being light in my response to James......obviously there are others that need to lighten up. Packo

Thanks for your message, which my thoughts have mirrored. It has long been my belief that liberals have the least sense of humor. And I'm still trying to figure out what a 'domestic liberal' is; hopefully, there aren't any 'foreign liberals' lurking about!

Welcome Aboard!
Cwilkens,
Glad to have you on board. I am the self-appointed, unrecognized, unofficial theropist for this unrulely group. Great group of guys and few really good women. I am a little concerned about Sis (little sparrow) she thinks Western Washington is beautiful and she hasn't even seen the most beautiful part of the State (Moses Lake). You haven't lived until you visit Moses Lake then you have a real appreciation for Green and the one thousand shades of brown. A good group of people. Keith P.S. I taught in a Community College for seven years. That's why am going bald. |

James et al
I've been out of it a few times in the last several weeks, more so than normal. Did I miss something interesting? If there was a rock fight and I didn't get invited I'm bummed out. However, I've check back on the posts and can not find one.
Packo: a domestic liberal and a conservative on international issues, do you remember a souther senator named Scoop Jackson? Didn't he tout himself as just such a person? I'm not talking about (and I'm sure he wasn't talking about) wacko left wing, just aid to dependent children, government set up pre-school for inner city kids, things like that. As you may remember I could well be seen as liberal when it comes to the enviorment. Not, "there's a spotted owl in that tree so we cann't cut any lumber for 100 miles", but "lets try to conserve our water and fuel". It seems a person can be a pragmative and take a stand on each seperate issue, sometimes liberal, sometimes conservative. Besides, I hate lables. Stay healthy, Andy PS: "Any youth who is not liberal does not have a heart. Any mature person who is not a conservative, has no brain." W.L.S. Churchill. |

Thank you for enlightening me.
I don't think that conserving the environment is a conservative or liberal bastion. I know tons of "right way" thinking people that also believe in conservation. I have a "save the SC coast" bumper sticker. It is bigoted to think that Conservativism means raping the land and animals. Crapola is a better term. You are Conservative like me and care for the environment. Does that mean you and me are the only ones????? I doubt we are that unique. We have all been painted with the same brush, you lean right, you hate the earth, and that is bull shit. Seems like you have also been convinced of that notion. What you are really talking about are those that are way way left and those that are way way right, and thank God they are a minority of both philosophies. SAVE THE MALES! (oh, sorry, that's an old Citidel thing) EnviroPacko PS The Doctors all tell me I'm recycleable.......even my new hip!

I tend to agree with
the "newbie"! By the way, welcome aboard CW. I'm definately a "domestic" liberal and much more "conservative" in my foreign policy beliefs.
CW, you'll find most of the folks that tend to "lean" to the right a little bit around here are really upstanding citizens and downright nice folks (even though I tend to disagree with some of their poltical beliefs). I don't really know what got James upset. But, he said something in a previous post regarding something that Superscout may have stated that pi$$ed him off. If that IS the case, I can understand it. He (Superscout) has perfected that ability in such a condescending way that he could probably pi$$ off his own relatives, close friends (if he has any) and anyone else that "disagrees" with him and his "political" beliefs! Sorry Super, if the truth "hurts"---SO BE IT! I really thought you were a "JERK" on the other History channel board, and it appears you haven't changed to any great degree that may alter my opinion of you over here either! I've honestly attempted (with GREAT difficulty I might add) to try and give you the "benefit" of doubt regarding your "snot-nosed", moronic, childish and condescending nature. So far it ain't worked! I STILL don't like you---and probably never will. Now, if some of the folks around here can't handle the truth as one feller see's it---tha's OK also! If this is how the "right-minded" folks are gonna start "hammerin" folks of different "persuasions"---then I'm OUT-A HERE! Adios Amigos!

Re: I tend to agree with
You aren't going anywhere you webfooted old river rat! Like you said in your beginning to CW, we may differ but are all good folks. Hell, I have always thought our bantor, with you, James, Razz, has all been in fun. I hain't never took none of it seriously and even if I agreed with you on an issue, I'D NEVER TELL YA!
Now you and James seem to have a beef with Scout. Well, to me, that betwixt ya'll and Scout. But personally, I'd hate to seen any of ya'll leave over this kinda crap. Me and everybody I know have always tried to put a little humor in our dissagreements. I for one will always disagree if I do, and ain't afeared of sayin' it, but with a little humor, always with a little humor. Now, appologize to me for sayin' your gonna leave! You broke my heart!
