Our mistake was not seeing his allegiance was more to his country than to Monlithic Communism. His mistake was not seeing us as anticommunist instead of imperialists. We really wanted the same thing, a free and independant Vietnam. that pretty well sums up the tragedy of the Vietnam War.

2. I think the first six names are some of the guys that came through our perimeter 2JAN67 somewhere around Kontum.
4. Well, he was Vietnamese so it would have to be Salems . Most of what I know about the "Whys and Wherefores" of the war I've learned from you guys on these forums. Have never read a book about the history of it. As an avid reader, maybe that's peculiar. I don't know. I guess I felt that I had SEEN and lived through the part of the war that was most important to me. Didn't feel the need to see "The Big Picture."
