Berkeley City Council Vote
Berkeley City Council Vote
Senator Jim DeMint recently introduced S.2596, known as the Semper Fi Act. The purpose of the bill is to "rescind funds appropriated by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2008, for the City of Berkeley, California". DeMint and several cosponsors were upset by the recent Berkeley City Council vote calling the Marine Corps recruiting office there "uninvited and unwelcome intruders". The council also granted a sound permit and designated parking space in front of the office to an anti-war group protesting the Marines' presence in Berkeley, applauded those who would nonviolently interfere with the recruiting office's work. Specific earmarks targeted by the bill include funding for Chez Panisse, which provides lunches for the Berkeley school district; and a Cal-Berkeley endowment to catalog the papers of former Congressman Robert Matsui. The total amount targeted by the bill is around $2 million. Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates has since apologized if any families of servicemen were offended by the resolution.

Disgusting.
See the Code Pink website for yourself, where they brag about it. http://www.codepinkalert.org/article.php?id=3622 Mayor Tom Bates says he wants to back away from the City Council’s resolutions, and clarify them. Clarify them to what? That the Council Members should personally join him in harassing the Marines at their office? Notice the pink beret on the Mayor For an update on today's festivities including city council meeting tonight. http://www.moveamericaforward.org/index.php Pictures & more shortcuts to more pictures http://www.moveamericaforward.org/in...es_october_17/

We should invite them to Psyco Mountain in April to discuss their views

Just an overview shot of the pro-Marine side. I'd say they had about 50% more people, or many times more people if you don't include the high school students. PAGE 2

I can understand the council's concern over having those Marines right down town. I had the occasion to haul some of those Marines about 40 years ago to the day.
They were an unwashed and unshaven bunch. Some had that far-a-way look in their eyes. Some even had the audacity to bleed on my airplane. They seemed rather anxious to catch the plane. I don't understand why. We only took them a short distance. I guess Da Nang was a little better than Khe San and Hue. Those idiots in berkley don't have a clue. What do they think this country would be with out our military? I wish I was articulate enough to express my total disgust with that bunch. Thanks Marines, soldiers, airmen and sailors. Pete |

These liberal moonbats needs to take a one way flight out of the USA. I am so sick of these liberal moonbats and the way they treat our Veterans. If they are so much against our Military then they need to get the hell out of the USA and go and live where they don't have any freedom. Case Closed .
