Post Playing The Game!

There is an old saying that goes: ?Above all, to thine own self be true? and almost everyone is instilled with some values by those who helped in bringing them up! Indeed, we are all a product of heredity and environment, but it is not these values alone that become our inner matrix, but rather what we make of them!

Our system of law is, to a great extent, predicated upon these values, but not all values are pure in content. Some have been contorted, others slightly bent, and yet others - ?TOTALLY" - F.U.B.A.R.E.D (Most of you know what that means)!

When the ridiculous becomes normal, and when this mindset encompasses the desires of self alone, do we not also become a society that has brainwashed itself into believing that anyone who challenges the status quo, is himself a foe of the system? Rebellion is not always a bad thing, as rebellion also comes in many peaceful forms. There are, after all, rebellions of the mind, the spirit and the soul itself! And did not even Thomas Jefferson once say, in a letter to James Madison (1787) that, and I quote: ?A little rebellion now and then is a good thing?? Our Third President also said in 1807, and again I quote: ?When a man assumes a public trust, he should consider himself as public property!?

In reality, this site (and others) are in themselves, a rebellion of sorts! This is a forum of (sometimes) conflicting ideas and thoughts, a place to let off steam, and a bastion of independent thinking. Indeed, it is even a place in which to visit with people, many of them veterans, with like or differing philosophies! ?Were we all alike, after-all, this Earth would be a boring place indeed!?

As a matter of fact, the demands of some that we all march to same drummer, is what causes conflict to begin with, is it not? The real problem arises, when those in power (be they elected or self appointed) demand, by means of position, force, intimidation or pure arrogance, that: ?Their Way Is The Only Way!? If these people are paying your salary, that is one thing, but when those doing the ordering about are elected, or worse yet - ?hand-selected by the elected?, and their demands are contrary to common sense, human decency or even standard logic (conscience if you prefer), then is it not the responsibility of any thinking individual to protest, or at the least offer up an opinion?

This analogy, however, is often frowned upon by many in power! Some people reason that by virtue of title, accolades, position, or awards, that they have been elevated above the common good, the will of the majority, or even decency itself! The Golden Rule to some of these people, has unfortunately been allocated the back seat to - ?Playing The Game By The Vacillating Rules Of $$ Power For The Sake Of Power Alone!? This of course, is pure, unadulterated bull-shit, at least in my humble opinion!!

We elect public servants and instill in them an awesome responsibility. They are our voice, our representation, and the instrument of our common will. Above all, they are the tools that insure our sovereignty and survival!

Egos have no place in public office, and neither does a totally vested agenda! Contrary to what some may want to believe, these elected individuals are naught but the servants of the citizenry, not an appointed aristocracy. As such, their mandates should (and must) be the mandates of the majority! And if these people can not (or will not) ?Walk The People?s Walk? how can their progeny (the petty-minded bureaucracies themselves) be expected to conduct themselves any differently? Are not the off-spring of arrogance, prone themselves to arrogance. And is not any wrong akin to a snow ball on a steeply inclined hill, in that it too gathers mass (power) as it descends to the depths, taking with it all that lies within it?s path, good and bad alike!?

We have a splendid and workable system here in the United States, but like all good things, there will always be a few who seek to bend it to their own will or agenda, including those, like the United Nations, who seek absolute control over that which they have never contributed to in an affirmative fashion!

Is this not why we hold elections here in the United States - to free ourselves of what we perceive to be unworkable! Every snake (regardless of family affiliation), will in time, bare its venomous fangs, once it feels secure in its position! And only then (unfortunately) can we determine the critter?s true intent!

?We Should All Vote Wisely Tomorrow, But By All Means - VOTE!?

Hardcore,

Well so much for the long weekend it blew by so fast that here we are again back at work. I plan to vote primarily for the referendums that they like to stick on the local residents.

As far as whose the right guy/gal for office God only knows. They tell you one thing and when in office they do another. I expressed myself last week about special interest groups and how I feel about those guys.

Our government today is bogged down and noodling under rocks to see who can grab what for each of their states. The real problem comes when nothing gets done like it has for the last five years.

People are getting laid off in droves. People with 10 or more years are now walking the streets. Crime is up and those with families will run out of money and who knows what will happen then?

I don't write with the compassion you do Hardcore but I know what you're trying to express. We can only do what we think is right and hope those we put in office will do what they think is right. Let's kick out the special interest groups and let them do what they are suppose to do and maybe just maybe something may get done.
