Post They have even proposed.

They have proposed on several occassions of making a state of of Eastern Washington and the Pan Handle of Idaho.

Especially true in Washington. Eastern Washington is rural conservative. Western Washington is urban liberal. Other than Boeing, the Agriculture of Eastern Washington support the state. Yet, the idiot liberals in Seattle want to breech the Dams on the Snake, Columbia, and Pend Oreille Rivers in Eastern Washington which provide the State with the majority of the electricity and water for agriculture. To breech the Dams who ruin the state economically. All for a few fish. Yet because of stricter fishing regulations the fish population has been increasing the that last few years. Get rid of the gill nets at the mouth of all the rivers in the Northwest you would never have any serious fish population problems.
It probably would be a good idea to divide the state but it will never happen.

I have looked at the design specs for a Texas panhandle steer and it?s fairly amazing set of digits and stats. I see a ground level mouth intake scoop measuring six foot wide and eighteen inches tall, with nearly a zero pressure intake vacuum developed and this is coupled with an average land cruising speed of 70+ mph and a turbo driven high pressure/high volume exhaust system.
Been through there on hwy 40 and have to say that the critter eats look mighty scarce and thin, plus I recall a tourist sign that pointed to the edge of the earth as being just a few miles distant to the north of the highway. But on the other hand, it?s the setting for one of my favorite books; ?Comanche Moon?, so it has to be a interesting place.

Given all that, I?d say that the panhandle?s Texans are mighty tough and opinionated folks and probably given to ?poaching? ifin they see a set of Massachusetts?s plates rolling on through on hwy 40, LOL.

P.S.
Andy,a more proper division of California would be a north south line running a few miles east of L.A and San Francisco. It would have to jog west just below LA County and then west again above Marin County. Oh, Sacramento would have to go with their western brethren so a high security Berlin style land corridor would be necessary. Hollywood, of necessity, would have to become a Monaco-like country and continue to develop their Socialist Monarchy. They already have Queen Jane and her line of Royal ?Red? bloods so all they need is a King; or a compromise manifestation like Jackson, to rule the joint. Michael Moore, Ed Asner or Tommy Smothers are good candidates for coronation as King also I?d say.
But a proper King of Hollywood would have to be non-gender specific, non-orientation specific, and non-race specific and only speak in a language that is non-cultural specific and has no ties to any known or unknown religion what so ever. Hmmm, maybe a neutered fido of good disposition fills the bill.

I don't think this would be a good idea

Seascamp,

You'll see very few MA plates in Texas...none of us speak the language!

This is true Dan; the language barrier can be a significant handicap in Texas. What I try to do is sign that I?m a Gringo from the far western mountains and that I come in peace. That seems to work around the Galveston/Houston area anyway. This procedure is a bit iffy in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and definitely meets with some suspicion in the Amarillo area.
But faded jeans, round-up boots, a denim shirt and a hard hat with the right decals seem to buy a temporary dispensation.

But if the going gets tough, having a map showing the quickest way to the Oklahoma border is a good back up proceedure, just in case. Oklahoma, Ok.

Scamp, your wrong. I see license plates from Hawai, and New Jersey and Friendly Manatoba. Down here on the Border we get all the folks with Blue Hair , left turn signal on since they left home. They go to Mexico with their oxygen bottle on a cart and buy their Tequila, cigarettes and prescriptions. Then raise holey hell because we check them coming back to the US and Texas. To them, after they have a good healthy "Brain Fart", they haven't left the US, they just crossed to a small border town, and to them this is like going to WalMart. Sound stupid but we deal with about 5000 of these pillars of society and their complaints of getting treated like criminals.
I just tell the fellars, this is job security and go on.
Ain't it grand, scares me about getting old.

... treat them Blue Hairs kindly, as I know you will. Here's a suggestion when checking them back into the US after their flights over to Never-Never Land: tell them that you had a report that a Muslim terrorist had planted a bomb on a car that looked just like theirs, and you don't want their car to blow up while parked outside the bingo pallor. And then give them a brief refresher course on how to turn off their turn indicator. For further instructions, see the threat entitled Daily Humor - it explains lots!!

Default WILLIE!!!!!!!!

My friend, the option to getting older is a BITCH!!!!!!!
As to the Border, spent considerable amount of time all along it and you describe some of it very well. At times, the fishing in Falcon is great!!!! That is until the lake gets so low you can see the old town of Guerro, the church, and the square that the Mexicans didn't demolish when the lake was made.

To all you Lone Stars, is it true that the original name for Texas was Baja Oklahoma?
