The Constitution - Iraqi Style

In yet another attempt to carbon copy the entire planet, the Iraqi Constitution (roughly modeled after ours, it is said) is running into a stiff breeze in the final stages of it's ratification!?

I did, however, find it interesting (or is that amusing) that the "Key Words" in most Iraqi debates are: The "Bill of Rights In Our (Iraqi) Constitution, Can Not (and must not) Be Screwed With!!!!"

Here (USA) we are, telling the entire world how to live and govern themselves, when in reality, our own (inviolable) Bill of Rights is constantly under vested attack! Not only our own Bill of Rights, but indeed, other (once sacred) mandates and documents of our very existence, are sliced and diced like so much cabbage, by those who play every political and monetary angle to the favor of the few!

"EQUALITY" these days is measured in personal advantage. The common good and welfare of the majority don?t even finish a distant second to the greed and demands of the well-placed few!

And worse of all, the media, the spin-doctors, and the political hucksters have us all convinced that we never had it so good!? "Sought of like that proverbial (skinned) rabbit, with one foot in the frying pan, and the other ankle-deep in hot cooking grease!!"

Let?s see - "Total acceptance of a queer way of life, glorification of high placed liars and thieves, the assassination of God within our society, sickening sexual behavior (even amidst our loftily placed), arrogance and ego dominating common sense, the unconditional surrender of our sovereignty to world dictate, the abandonment of our aged, veterans, poor and even middle classes (to benefit the already $$ satiated among us), and the international rape of our dying industrial system (aided and abetted by more than a few of our own elected leaders)!

Now add to this the fact that even our own sacred Constitution has been re-transcribed onto flimsy rice-paper, so that with every political ripple, every bureaucratic wave, and every breath of insider hot air, the actual intent and meaning of this splendid document is modified to suit the dictates of those who would be kings, and you begin to smell a few well-placed rats!?

So why are we concerning ourselves over the "Iraqi Bill of Rights", when certain rights and expectations, right here in the (so called) Cradle of Liberty are also as fluid (at times) as snot on a hot tin roof!?

?If charity truly begins at home, then so does reform!!? Not a reform that carries us to new and uncharted ground, but rather a reform that takes us back (in some ways) to the ideals of yore. To a domain where truth, justice, morality, common sense, and the Golden Rule, mean more to us than screwing over our own population to pacify world-class failures, festering all over Planet Earth!! (opinion)
