Exclamation Common Sense II

5-25-2018

Back in (or about) 1776, a genuine and often maligned patriot by the name of Thomas Paine penned the publication entitled “Common Sense” and in it, he outlined the reasons that he felt justified our quest for independence! Some eight or so years later and after a blood bath that no one thought we could win, “The British Surrender at Yorktown” proving the world wrong again!

“So whatever happened to all of that Common Sense or have we degenerated in some ways, back into that which we fought hard and long to escape?”

Our warriors are pretty much the same today as they were some 242 years ago, even if our technology has become increasingly awesome! Unfortunately, however, politicians and bureaucrats never seem to change – they are still primarily out for themselves (opinion)! You would think that if nothing else, “The Civil War” of some 157 years ago would have taught us something about the need for unity, at least where it counts? But alas, to a politician, any politician – anywhere in the world, it is usually their way, or the highway!

So what in the world ever happened to all of that “Good Old American Common Sense”, and do we truly believe that we can continue to make the same old mistakes, and they will not eventually come back to haunt us? After all, we still have what it takes to persevere and to thrive, but only if we once again adopt that “Same Old Common Sense” that motivated “The Magnificent Mr. Paine” and the rest of those gallant patriots from “Our Illustrious Past!”

“HEROISM YET LIVES HERE IN AMERICA!”
