Things I wonder about.
When I'm not preoccupied with trying to solve the world's problems, I like to let my mind relax and wander...and wonder.
Some of the things I wonder about: 1. After the end of World War II some of our BB class battleships were decommissioned and salvaged. The Gillette Corporation bought one of them. Ever since I found that out, I've always wondered: How many razor blades can you make out of a 40,000 ton battleship? 2. Everyone knows that if you drop a piece of buttered bread, it always lands butter-side down, especially if you drop it over a carpet. Everyone also knows that if you drop a cat, it always lands on its feet. So, if you attached a piece of bread butter-side-up to a cat's back and then dropped the cat, what would happen? Do ya'll ever wonder about things like this? Do I need to make an appointment with Keith? Airborne! Steve / 82Rigger

Rigger -
If my calculations are accurate (I believe they are pretty close), and assuming we are talking about an old timey single-edge razor blade such as Gillette was making back at the time they bought the battle wagon, then here is a probable number of blades that would have resulted: 1 blade = about 56 grains So, there would be about 328 blades to 1 pound, 656,000 blades to 1 ton, and: (TAH DAH!) 2,624,000,000 blades to a battleship, give or take a few. As for the buttered cat, never could figure cats out. |

The answer
Steve
The answer to the 2d question is : Always duct tape your bread and butter securely to the cat with the buttered side on his stomach--thats the way we learned in the Army Youre welcome James

My Office is Open
Steve,
Make an appointment! Back when I was twelve I decided to read the World Book Encyclopedia through from cover to cover. I did that. After I finished I had more questions than answers. Have you been reading Encyclopedias? Keith |

Keith...
Yeah, I been reading encyclopedias. The phone book was starting to get boring.
Did you notice that Mike and James worked on the problems? Ummm...we might need a group session. Airborne! Steve / 82Rigger

we DO need a group session
Dunno, if'n it were the Atra razor blade then the figures would go down considerably as to grains... so maybe a Class BB battler would produce less than an Iowa Class big guy and so forth... got me ponderin'... Wonder how many blades would be shot off from just the one 16" round... maybe Scamp or Boats knows... |

Yes Indeed A Group Therapy Session
Yes Indeed a group therapy session is in order.
Now lets all sit in circle and think wonderful thoughts like being in Hawaii instead of shoveling snow. Now look at each of your neighbors and say to yourself: "boy this sure is a weird bunch I got stuck with, I didn't think I had descended to such a low level." Now look at each of your neighbors and think good thoughts about them. This may be difficult but at least try. Now think to yourself, I've got to get out of this session. The leader is really strange and most of the participants are even stranger. Once you reach that point you are totally cured. You now will stop having deep thoughts. You now can go back to regular posting. No name calling or vindictative statements. WE all love each other on this site. Keith |

Thank you, Keith, and...
...now that the group session has been held, it's time for you to extend your assistance in other locations.
You are needed in Tacoma. Something about stress problems. I suspect you are needed in the Northeast... also for stress problems. Something about snow and ice. I'm going to take out a patent on the cat/buttered bread idea. It may be the long-sought source of perpetual motion. Now that I know how many razor blades can be made from a battleship, I can get some sleep. Airborne! Steve / 82Rigger
