Question Mental Programing

4-25-2018

The easiest thing in the world for some laggards to do is to program us all by means of repetition! After all, if you tell a person something long enough, and hard enough, you can eventually convince them of anything that you want them to believe, no matter how laced with B.S. it may be!

“Television does it, the radio does it, and the newspapers as well do it on a regular basis!” As a matter of fact, politicians themselves have become masters at the arts of deception, spin, and even pure hogwash!

The biggest problem of all, however, is that after a while, those who engage in these practices begin to believe that it is their right to “lie like hell” and that those who refuse to go along with them are the enemies of the state? And to think that, once upon a time, it was the liar and the perverted who were ostracized, and “TRUTH ITSELF” was respected and expected!

“Hasn’t anyone these days ever heard of Sodom and Gomorrah, or maybe even Herculaneum and Pompeii? If not, then how about Hades, or is that too unfamiliar to those who haunt the badlands beyond The Potomac?”

Arrow "Patriotic Values"

HC you asked in an earlier thread about "Patriotic Values"
RE: https://foundationofpatriotism.org/p...by-our-values/

The Definition Of Patriotism Through Values

Patriotism. Love of country. Defense of country. Respect for ourselves, our citizens and natural resources. Care for our citizens.

Love, defense, respect, care. These words describe our nation’s highest ideals for our country. Yet the word ‘patriotism’ doesn’t always resonate with us the same throughout the undulating, sometimes turbulent nature of our ever changing culture. If we are not careful, we run the risk of people developing a belief that patriotism is no longer important. If so, then we must ask what has replaced it?

The full scope of the definition of patriotism embodies more than flag waving, parade marching events that excite us for the moment, only to leave us later to go back to our lives and ignore our personal responsibility to citizenship.

Let’s explore the verbs of patriotism. The action words. Action is what propels us to improve.

Love. Love of country is an important aspect of patriotism. But, as mature, intelligent people know, love is expressed appropriately to the situation. Without this important, yet often overlooked component, we are left with nationalism, not patriotism. Love can disagree with particular decisions when they go against our Constitution. Love can reprimand bad behavior. Love can forgive and love can make restitution. But, love of country is by no means blindly following bad leaders.

Defense. Defense of country is another important aspect of patriotism. When you love something, you defend it. In our nation’s history, there were times when our actions did not reflect the values of our constitutional high ground. It was important to change our actions, while still defending our country. Peaceful protest is the American way for citizens to take part in righting wrongs. Our military must defend the country, whether they agree with the ideas of our citizens or not. They are to defend the country even at the expense of our elected officials, but never at the expense of our citizens. That is why the American armed forces are all volunteers.

Respect. Respect for ourselves, our citizens, and our natural resources. When you’ve defended something as precious as our American way of life, you respect its people, its natural resources and its property. Respect is not an acquired trait, it’s a learned trait. We must educate our people in how to show respect. We need only look to Facebook to see we have not been doing a very good job “marketing” this trait. The disrespect we are experiencing is overwhelming right now. It will take strong leadership, and strong support for that leadership to turn this train around! But, we’ve done it in the past, and we will do it again. Respect is contagious, pass it on.

Care. Care for our citizens. A nation can be defined by its care of its weakest creatures and citizens. The natural world is dependent on human interaction. When we keep our natural resources clean, our eco system remains strong and healthy for all of us. America loves and cares for innocent animals, fiercely defending what they love, our laws are changing to increase penalties on those who mistreat or abuse animals. America is a benevolent society, our faith based organizations have led the nation in care for the poor and needy among us. And according to statistics, most Americans care for the unborn as well as our elderly. Don’t let the headlines deceive you, they are the exception, not the rule. Americans care!

So, how do you define patriotism in your life? How do you show your patriotism? We hope you’ll share your patriotism and encourage them to join us, help us continue to grow a more patriotic America.

Arrow Defining patriotism: The American way of life

Here's another: DEFINING PATRIOTISM: THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE
RE: https://foundationofpatriotism.org/d...n-way-of-life/

DEFINING PATRIOTISM: THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE

What is happening to our American way of life? Racial tensions, economic decline, politicians at war with each other for the soul of America, and a serious and debilitating cause for lack of trust in the current government officials nationwide, are factors we must contend with.

Patriotism is often defined as love of country. However, even a cursory look at daily news and social media outcries, reveal the “mood” for patriotism in America seems to be declining under the weight of civil and political unrest.

Has America lost her identity? As new generations emerge, we face some hard decisions as we work to sustain our American values. The winds of change are a constant reminder that we must stay flexible in some areas, while holding on to our freedom. Change for the better is good. Change, for the sake of other people’s world views? Not so fast.

But, before you go getting scared and crazy, let us remind ourselves, the best predictor of future behavior, is past behavior. That said, let’s look back to see what’s ahead!

In 1765, Patrick Henry broke the silence of our fear with his cry “Give me liberty, or give me death!” Increasing pressure from the British government to dig deeper in our wallets caused an outcry that was heard around the world. Let the revolution begin! What ensued? Well, eventually, for the American people, we gained life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Albeit, not without making serious sacrifices. That was the only war we ever fought for freedom for ourselves. Every subsequent war we fought, even to include the current conflict, we fight for the freedom of others. We are an army of nation builders. We fight for peace, and freedom. And we move on. That is the American way. And it’s the best and safest way to protect, defend and nurture freedom around the world.

The National Foundation of Patriotism is dedicated to the task of keeping patriotism relevant in America. Historic perspective leads the way to our future. Mocking and exploiting our nation’s youth for not knowing what WE DID NOT TEACH THEM, in the first place, is no excuse for continued. Teach a kid American history, and watch us start change for the good of our American way of life!

Arrow How do you define Patriotism?

Another: HOW DO YOU DEFINE PATRIOTISM?
RE: https://foundationofpatriotism.org/p...t-means-to-me/

HOW DO YOU DEFINE PATRIOTISM?

A Patriot is defined as such: “One who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests” according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

However, it can be said that the idea of patriotism in America has come under fire recently. There seems to be more division in our country than the notion of coming together as countrymen, no matter if the the lines are drawn politically, economically or racially or for other reasons.

Is the idea lost that defines a “real” American? Is it forgotten? Fox News recently discovered that utterly too many Americans couldn’t pinpoint Iowa on a map, so the idea of what patriotism means may be falling by the wayside to a great extent. It’s time to think about why patriotism is important.

Going back in history to the origins of our country in 1765, American territories were ruled by the British government. There was unfair taxation that caused many people living here to be extremely distressed. Several people along with Patrick Henry called for the freedom to rule their country the way they saw fit. “Give me liberty or give me death” and sayings like this were heard in many places. Actually, Patrick Henry attributed to helping develop the first 10 amendments of our Constitution. For his time, this was obviously a man who comprehended the definition of patriotism.

Another notable patriot was Nathan Hale, who was captured and executed for spying on his newly developing country. “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country” was among his last words were. Undoubtedly, this was another early American who had a precise definition of patriotism.

Nonetheless patriotism defined often succeeds political boundaries. There are numerous Native Americans who fought the settlers and army on behalf of their native land and many of whom the Native Americans viewed as intruders. These men like Sitting Bull, Geronimo, Tecumseh and others fought and died standing up for what they believe to be just and right. Clearly, what they believed was in disagreement with the settlers and guarding armies, but it is easy to see how patriotism can be defined by standing up for the values and beliefs of your country.

The Emancipation Proclamation, where Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves, was a man who went against the thinking of the day. Millions of Americans were affected by this decision economically. What is required is embracing what is right, when it comes to defining patriotism.

Another patriot who embraced what was right during the civil rights movement was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The well known speech in Washington where he proclaimed, “..I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.” For these words, some Americans considered him as a threat while still others saw him as a visionary. Either way, his values, ideas and definition of patriotism aided in helping him win a Nobel Peace Prize.

It makes sense for some people define patriotism by directing their attention to American military heroes. Our country has a proud and extensive and list of fighting men who have characterized themselves on the battlefield. There are currently around 3400 Medal Of Honor recipients, since the creation of the medal in 1861. These men and women have beyond doubt demonstrated values that define patriotism. Actually, it may be the easiest measure of patriotism we have.

PATRIOTISM DEFINED

What is the true definition of an American and Patriotism? It defines none and all Patriotism at the same time. Is it love for country or love of a country’s moral beliefs, policies and foundations? When one says, “I would die for my country,” what exactly is he dying for?

By going over just a few snapshots of American history, one can sum up that “Patriotism” is in fact, love for a country’s greater good, or depending on the needs of the specific group, their greater good.

Defining patriotism can be an unclear task, but at the Foundation of Patriotism, we believe you first have to begin defining patriotism with the values that your country treasures. From there, we can start to understand the patriotic behavior that stems from these values. Does the country value peacefulness, kindness, sacrifice, goodness, honesty, etc.? If not, then what values are held in high esteem? This is a excellent beginning to defining patriotism in our country.
