MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. (Tribune News Service) — A Moody Air Force Base officer who died earlier this year in Iraq will be buried Monday in Arlington National Cemetery.

Capt. Mark Weber, a combat rescue officer assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron, will be buried with full military honors at Arlington at 3 p.m. Monday, July 6, according to the cemetery's website.

He was killed March 15 in an HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter crash in Anbar province, Iraq, according to a statement from Moody.

Weber was trained to direct combatant command and control of combat search and rescue operations and to plan, manage and execute CSAR tasks. Weber was hand-selected to fulfill these duties while augmenting the 308th RQS from Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., for his first deployment.

His remains are being escorted from Dover Air Force Base, Md., to the cemetery in Virginia, said Pete Piringer, public information officer for the Montgomery County, Md., Fire and Rescue Service, which is assisting with escort duty.

Weber's sister, who also serves in the Air Force, is accompanying her brother's remains in the escort, he said.

Arlington National Cemetery was established in 1864, on the grounds of Arlington House, which had been the estate of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's wife, Mary Anna (Custis) Lee, a great-granddaughter of Martha Washington.

Amen.
