Mosin Nagant M-44

Below is a picture of my daughter holding my most recent purchace. It is a Mosin Nagant M-44 Carbine. It shoots rather well, but not as good as my 8mm Turkish Mauser. I can cover 5 shots at 100 yds with a 50 cent piece with the mauser. The M-44 I have to use a soda can to do that.

Good looking weapons. Stock on the Turk looks real nice.

I've built a few muzzle loaders from kits and used to shoot competition with the M1 (Garand) rifles. I really enjoyed restoring and accurizing the M1s.

Your daughter looks quite at ease holding that Moisin.

Are you teaching her to shoot?

Have you added a Finnish M-39 to your collection ? Shoot the same round and really well done. Like the fact that your M/N is all there, bayonet and all.

My Son and Daughter are both enrolled in Pappa Squids Firearms Safety and Shooting Course. They have not yet mastered the Safety portion, so the shooting will have to wait until they master that part first.

Yep Safty first with the youngins' , When I bought my first Pistol in 1984 (a Colt .22 Diamondback) I kept it at my parents house and when I left it with my Mom the first time I took all my younger siblings down to the gully and we shot some pop cans. Told them 1.The bullets go away from us, 2. Bullets destroy stuff, 3. Don't point it anything they didn't want to die are break.4 Keep your fingers off the trigger tell you want to do the first three. Then we shot a box pf .22 shells and none of the little ones after that afternoon ever went into Moms bedroom and bothered the gun for the next 16 years (it was just lying in her dresser drawer loaded). Education works with kids pretty good when folks take the time to take the Mystic off guns and other stuff

my first rifle was a 7.62 russian sporterized it means they cut the front part of the stock and top wood off. it shot some kind of corrisive round because we had to clean it like a black powder wheapon after firing it that day. but it was cheap like $15.00 or something like that it shot straight and true but as a kid I had my heart set on a 30-30 model 94 nothig less or nothing more would do. I mowed lawns until I had the $30 bucks to buy a used one. man was I the Man then.

It might be the ammo you are using. If you are using old Russian Issue ammo sold as surplus the bullets vary in weight and powder charge and are not accurate. If you can buy some new commercial ammo you will probably get better results.

I just like to shoot them. I know the ammo makes a difference, but right now I am not shooting them competatively.
