Just a note
to say thank you ! to all the WWII vets. Without your sarifice, what has come aftrer wouldn't have.
BTW - I was out in Phoenix last week visiting my kids and grandkids. We had to go to the mall (a prerequisite these days, it seems!) and I had to take a break while the kiddos shopped. While I sat on a bench, an old gentleman (I won't even say how much older) sat down next to me. We began to talk and I found out he was a WWII vet. A survivor of Layte Gulf, Tarawa and Okinawa assualts. He was wounded five times during these operations and still has sharpnel in his legs and is dreading the pending operation to finally remove the remainder of the sharpnel. It was great talking with this vet. When I mentioned that my step-father was a vet of the China-Burma-India campaign and my two uncles were both D-day vets / survivors, he really lit up. He asked if I had ever served and I told him I had served in Vietnam. We talked for over an hour and I definitely came away a better and more appreciative person. Thannk you to all the WWII vets and a hearty welcome home to you !
