Thumbs up By The Numbers - An Update!

Enough men have died in enemy Prisoners of War Camps since 1941 to man a full combat division! And yet, through all of this and more, there are still those who mistakenly believe that those who were destroyed by starvation, disease, froze or were beaten to death, all received the Purple Heart Medal - such was not the case!

In an effort to rectify this unfortunate oversight, a few good men and women have taken on the challenge, and started a campaign to educate people on the fact that many who gave their last full measure of patriotism and devotion, be it in captivity, were all but ignored when it came to their sacrifices! And although the Prisoner of War Medal was adopted in 1989, those who died in these hostile hell holes received no special recognition!

It is my belief, as well as the belief of the Military Order of The Purple Heart, Korean War Ex-Prisoners of War Inc, and The Tiger Survivors etc., just to mention a few, that those gallant Americans who met an untimely end in the hands of this nation?s enemies, also deserve a posthumous Purple Heart Medal.

This belief is also shared by seven congressmen (thus far) who have already signed on as the sponsor and co-sponsors of a Bill (HR 2369-Honoring Our Fallen Prisoners of War) that is long overdue - 64 years overdue to be exact!

I again urge you all to write your congressmen and senators in support of this splendid Bi-Partisan Bill, a Bill that is currently sitting in the House Armed Services Committee! For at a time when valiant Americans are again fighting and dying on distant shores, we must also remember and honor those who paid the ultimate price for freedom in the past!
