JAMES
on the AK-47. For $30 you could shoot a 30 round clip. All 4 of us took a turn.

TOM'S
turn. I knocked down 3 of the 4 targets, so the gave me a free Cu Chi Tunnels hat. I was the last to shoot, so ran out of ammo before I could get the last target. HEY, it ain't braggin' if it's true .

SCREAMING EAGLES BACK IN KON TUM
I operated in the mountains just north of here, and west to the Cambodian border from OCT66-MAR67 while serving with the 101st Abn. Div. We came to this AO after leaving Dak To, about 30mi. north. Kon Tum is about 30mi. north of Pleiku. This was the first time James had been to Kon Tum.

OK
Take the picture of James in the tunnel, make him a lot slimmer, and holding an RPG. Now add that to the tank picture. 1+1=2.
I like the tattoo on your lower leg, does Kathi have one too? By the way, if it was $30 to shoot the AK I'd of wanted to shoot that little sucker who was standing behind James. Not bitter at all, it's just that HE looked like a target. Stay healthy, Andy |

LEAVING PHAN RANG.......AGAIN
Phan Rang was the main basecamp for the 101st Abn. Div. while James and I were in it. I was a trooper from JUN66-JUN67, and James was from APR-SEP67 until he became a LRRP. Phan Rang is about 20+mi. south of Cam Rahn Bay. We didn't spend much time there, though. They had us moving around the country like homeless people, often staying at other units firebases. This sign tells you that you are LEAVING the Phan Rang city limits.

IN-COUNTRY R&R
James and I never got one of these, so we were overdue. We never knew a grunt that got one. This was taken at Mui Ne Beach, voted as the BEST beach by all 4 of us. Mui Ne is about 8-10mi. east of Phan Thiet. It's a well kept secret, as far as foreign tourists. There are several resorts on several miles of beach front but, by no means, crowded. We were there for the start of their Independence Day holiday, so were quite afew well-to-do VN families showing up to stay the Holiday. This was the most expensive place that we stayed outside of Saigon. $49, with the door to our rooms 20yds. off the beach. Beautiful setting, probably not over 2yrs. old. As nice as anything in Hawaii or Mexico.

KEITH AND ANDY
KEITH: You're not so far East in WA that you have much room to talk about white legs. Besides, I have excuses. First, us Irish don't tan....we sizzle like bacon. And 2nd, I live in the Bay Area. Remember what Mark Twain said: "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."
ANDY: No tats on Kath. She's the only one in the family that's not tattooed. The kids tell her she's adopted .
