Angry Obama Administration grants immunity to Mumbai Massacre suspects

Obama Administration grants immunity to Mumbai Massacre suspects

Indian Commando during the Mumbai Massacre.

"Serious disappointment" in Obama's decision...

Despite the Indian government long alleging to have proof that the Pakistani state intelligence service was complicit in the 2008 Mumbai Massacre, the Obama Administration has granted full immunity to key suspects, as reported by the Pakistan-based news portal Dawn.com on December 19, 2012.

Barack Obama went so far as to call on the Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani "to bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai terrorist attacks to justice."

In the terrorist attack that killed or wounded almost 500 innocent civilians, both the New Delhi and Washington, DC governments have asserted that the Pakistan-based terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was the prime mover in the attacks.

Yet Indian officials maintain Islamabad's spy agency the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was the unseen puppet master pulling all of LeT's strings.

The Globe and Mail of Toronto, Canada published last year that two conspirators confessed they were engaged in "espionage work for ISI."

Say One Thing, Do Another...

American survivors and family members of victims of the Mumbai Massacre have filed suit in New York Federal Court against the ISI and its former chiefs, Ahmed Shuja Pasha and Nadeem Taj.

However, the U.S. government has filed an affidavit stating that Pasha, Taj and other ISI officials "enjoy immunity" in the Mumbai attacks.

The Obama Administration demands in its affidavit that Pakistan "must take steps to dismantle the LeT and support India’s efforts to counter militant threats."

But also stated in the same legal documentation that "the ISI is entitled to immunity because it is part of a foreign state."

In a laconic statement from the Indian government, "the decision of the US authorities in this case is a cause of serious disappointment."
