Default Automatic Weapons OK in OR

I just learned this--full auto is OK in Oregon as long as its registered!!
how I happened to learn this is hearing auto weapons fire up on snake hill, acrost the draw from the Lazy J.
Sure sounds like an AK to me, I thought and, scooping up the carbine, sallied on out to see what was what.
I was right--it WAS an AK. I trailed him to his truck and took a look--- got to talking with him, he let me fire a burst!! First time in 38 years. DANG that felt good!
its LEGAL here to have full auto weapons!! as long as theyre rgistered--but what modern gun prchase isn't.
Evidently there's a big market for people who want to shoot full auto, there's clubs and everything. They say even grenades are legal--now THATS a state that knows how to protect the home!
I don't know if I'll buy one or not--a semi auto like the carbine is fine for me personally Its not how many bullets you shoot, its where you shoot em that counts. But I'm going to pick up a few grenades for sure
But I might buy an AK and have full auto tours on the lazy J. Come on up to the Lazy J and fire off a few mags--$100.00.

Seeing as how I had to give up my freeway exit standing job (too far) this may fill in the gaps
stay good
james

Default James, Full auto have always been legal

You just have to fill out an ATF form 4 and fingerprint card and send $200.00 for the tax stamp. Also short barreled shotguns, Explosives, Destructive devices, ETC. Just have to have the proper paper work. Going rate on an M60 is about 16K. M16s are around 8 to 12k a Ma duce will set you back about 50k.

Sid
By doing the ATF paperwork, arn't you uactually considered a weapons dealer? Which now makes it legal to own an auto

Default Different paperwork

You can apply as a collector, a manufacturer or a dealer. I forgot to mention that you may also own suppressors. All that being said, some states limit/restrtict/outlaw the ownership of certain types of weapons. Kalifornia, Kneu York and Kneu Jersey to name a few.

Bob,

I don't think so....but Sid would know....it doesn't give you the license to sell weapons...it's just a tax so Sam get's extra money from you. I thought you had to renew it every year...Sid?

Default As a collector the

$200.00 tax is a one time tax non transferable. If you sell the weapon it must be transfered thru a class III dealer to the new owner and the new owner has to file new paperwork and pay the tax. The weapon cannot be transfered until the ATF has approved the paperwork. The fees for dealers and manufacturers of class III weapons are different than the $200.00 tax for owners/collectors. Also the tax rate is different for various types of firearms. $200.00 for full/selective automatic weapons and suppressors. Short barreled shotguns are only $5.00. I do not recall the tax on destructive devices.
