A.B.,

Thanks for the information.

I am so upset that aside for abc news no one, repeat, NO ONE, has brought this to the attention of the pubic.

I am embarrassed for my country for not remembering America's efforts in World War I.

We should hang our heads in shame for not promoting this noble effort.

Covan, Sir!

I was in Washington D.C, during Memorial Weekend of 2004. It was during this specific weekend, that the US National World War II Memorial was dedicated in a cermony. I did not attend of course, since I assume the actual cermony was for "specially invited" and for those whom fought in WWII. And besides, I have never been comfertable in large crowds of people, which was the case to be threre then also...

But I did go after the cermony however. Up until then, and yet still, I can not help to wonder, why not until 2004??? And I also still wonder, why still not yet, for WWI???

As I am not an American, it is not my place to critisize this fact. But as only being human, I am unable to keep from wondering over this... I just simply do not understand.

As for information to the public regarding the WWI Museum, I too find that saddening. At least some media one would think, would find it to be "in line of public service mentality" at least, to inform of this. Personally, I was unaware of the lack of media-coveridge, as I do not reside in USA myself. (I live in Sweden). But what I have been doing, is to try to share this with as many as I can reach, by various forums I post on.

Sincerely
A.B

A.B.,

Thank you for your interest in the military history of the U.S. I only wish that many of my fellow countrymen had the level of knowledge and respect that you have.

I believe the World War II Memorial was delayed for decades for a couple of reasons. One was that the American men and women who returned from WWII did not care for have a memorial at the time. They came home started families, got jobs and went to school.

After the children were raised they became more aware of what they had achieved and the nation itself became aware that these men and women were dying at a rapid rate. The construction of the memorial itself became mired in political redtape and foot dragging, i.e., fights over the site, fights over the scope and size, and inevitably, problems raising private funds for its construction.

It is a beautiful memorial. I was there several weeks after the dedication.

World War I memorial? Who knows what happened there.

Covan, Sir!

A World War I Memorial..... Extremely few World War I Veterans still alive today. Sadly, I beleive there will not be a Memorial for the war they fought in, until after the last of them have left us for heaven. Just as you yourself wrote, "political redtape", "funding" and other things will still make this not be before the last living World War I Veteran has left us.

It is sad.

Will go abroad by this upcomming Monday, and am uncertain f how much (read little) I may be able to be online, until I return home again on January 5th. Last past weeks days have been very hectic, trying to get several things done before I leave. Just wish to yet again Thank You, for your kind words.

Take Good Care!

Sincerely
A.B
