Road between RAF Mildenhall and Eriswell to close Sept. 5-10

The C602, or Eriswell Road will be closed from Hollywell Row to the T-junction will be closed for resurfacing work until Sept. 10. According to Sq. Ldr. Rick Fryer, RAF Mildenhall commander, the official alternative route, which will be sign-posted, is via Mildenhall and the five-ways roundabout.

Some school bus schedules will also be affected.

The road closure will affect 19 school buses, 12 at RAF Lakenheath and seven at RAF Feltwell. The stop times for pick-up in the morning should not be effected but the arrival time at the school will be delayed from 10 to 15 minutes.

The arrival times on the afternoon return runs, at the stops, will also run 10 to 15 minutes late. All principals are aware and no one should be counted tardy if on one of these buses. Pick up and drop off bus times remain the same.

Closure is slated from Sept. 5 at 7 a.m. through Sept. 10, although the road will reopen early if work is completed prior to that date.

Gate 1 Canopy Construction
Construction for a canopy at gate one is slated to begin August 21. Work will be done from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends through September 19. Personnel should expect diversions and delays on those weekends and are encouraged to use Nathan Gate (Gate 2) during these times.

FMO Closure
The Furnishings Management Office located on RAF Feltwell will be closed August 30 for the British Bank Holiday. For further information, call FMO at 01638 52 7334.

Spouse Tuition Assistance
Applications are now being accepted for the Spouse Tuition Assistance Program (STAP). Visit the Education Office in Building 948 to pick up an application. Take advantage of this unique benefit to overseas active duty spouses. Call 01638 52 3851 for more details.

Child Care Fee Policy Change
New fee ranges for Department of Defense child care have been created and will go into effect no later than Sept. 30. The ranges are based on family income and are as follows:
$125,000+: $137 - $139
$100,001 - $125,000: $134 - $136
$85,001 - $100,000: $131 - $133
$73,501 - $85,000: $122 - $130
$57,751 - $73,500: $106 - $121
$46,201 - $57,750: $91 - $105
$35,701 - $46,200: $75 - $90
$29,401 - $35,700: $60 - $74
$0 - $29,400: $44 - $59

DANTES Changes
Due to budget cuts, DANTES will no longer fund retests on CLEP and DSST exams. Current exam fees are $80 per DSST, and $120 per CLEP. DANTES will also stop funding certification exams as of October 2011.

RAFs Lakenheath and Mildenhall ASBP Blood Drives scheduled for September
There will be Armed Services Blood Program community blood drives at RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall in September.

Schedule is as follows:

RAF Lakenheath: Sept. 27 and 28 -- Main Gym (Building 904), 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
RAF Mildenhall: Sept. 30, North Side Fitness Center (Building 463), 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Armed Services Blood Program collects blood from the military community (servicemembers, family members, retirees and DoD Civilians) and the blood collected stays in our community.

Those with a U.S. social security number may donate -- please review the following information and restrictions:

Tattoos and permanent make-up acquired outside the U.S. is a one year deferral.

If you had a tattoo in any of the following listed States, you may not donate and must wait 12 months. All other US.. States are acceptable one week after acquiring the tattoo.

• Within the last 2 years, you traveled to South Korea and were north of Seoul at any time including the DMZ Tour (provide specific dates)
• You spent 3 months or more in the United Kingdom from 1980-1996
***UK time after 31 Dec 96 does not count against a person for donating (not counted as European time)
• You spent six months or more at a military installation in Europe from1980-1996
• You have lived in Europe for five years or more since 1 January 1980
(Except UK after 31 Dec 1996)
• You have had Hepatitis after your 11th birthday
• You have HIV, or ever tested positive for HIV
• You are pregnant or have been pregnant in the last six weeks

You MUST Know:
• The name of any medication you are taking or have taken in the past 4 weeks (i.e. Aspirin, Tylenol, Birth Control Pills, Antibiotics, etc.)
• Any immunizations (including smallpox) administered in the past 4 weeks.
• Every Place you have been to outside of the U.S. or Canada since 1980. (INCLUDE ALL DEPLOYMENTS.)
