The Maps Not That Accurate Up North....The 101st Covered The Western Part Of Quang Tri Province...The Ist of The 5th Was Too Busy Tipping Over Tracks To Worry About The Dinks.

The 101st didn't go into Quang Tri Province until late 1969 to cover the Marines stand down. The map David posted isn't about areas covered but shows the various divisions HQ's.

Default I think these maps changed often,

just like our experiences, depending on when you were there.

When I first got to the 101st in JUN66 our HQ basecamp was at Phan Rang, just south of Cam Rahn Bay. It was just the 1st Bde. at that time. Their HQ didn't become Phu Bai until well after the rest of the division arrived in late '67. Also at that time, many of the units on David's map weren't even in-country yet. There was no Americal Division, for example.

When I arrived with the 82nd in FEB68 we built a basecamp pretty much from scratch at Gia Le just outside Phu Bai. I think it was finally absorbed by Camp Eagle.
