China says its military 'drove away' US warship

Chinese officials on Monday said that its military drove a U.S. warship out of a disputed area of the South China Sea, The Associated Press reported.

A People’s Liberation Army (PLA) spokesperson said on social media that it sent ships and planes to the area after the USS Benfold entered an area around the Paracel Islands that is claimed by Beijing.

The PLA spokesperson told the news outlet that Chinese forces warned the U.S. ship and drove them away from the Paracel Islands, which the PLA claimed are part of China's “inherent territory,” according to the AP.

“The actions of the U.S. military have seriously violated China’s sovereignty and security,” the PLA said.

In a statement, the U.S. Navy’s 7th Fleet called China’s claims false, stating that the USS Benfold carried out its mission “in accordance with international law and then continued on to conduct normal operations in international waters.”

“U.S. forces operate in the South China Sea on a daily basis, as they have for more than a century. They routinely operate in close coordination with like-minded allies and partners who share our commitment to uphold a free and open international order that promotes security and prosperity,” the 7th Fleet said in its statement.

“All of our operations are designed to be conducted in accordance with international law and demonstrate that the United States will fly, sail, and operate wherever international law allows — regardless of the location of excessive maritime claims and regardless of current events.”

This comes as Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently warned China about intimidating its Southeast Asian neighbors and threatening navigation through the global waterway, the AP reported.

Blinken has warned China that if it followed through on threats to target Philippine aircraft or vessels, it “would invoke U.S. mutual defense commitments.”

The Biden administration on Sunday gave their full support for the 2016 tribunal ruling that rejected China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea, the AP noted.

Personal note: Nobody chases American's away. They left because they were under orders to do so. Here's what's going to happen in the very near future - one of China ships will open fire - and then all hell will break loose. We don't start wars but we win them! Keep that in mind when you finally decided to fire upon one of our own ships! Sooner or later one of China ships will procrastinate the beginning of a war - at sea - and that will be the match that lights up the sky when we fire back and sink her.

China don't press your luck. You could be extremely - and most likely - find yourself in a war that you won't win. Your current bravado doesn't win wars - it's the return fire that you will suffer - and it won't be pretty!

You like your cushy big chair in China and all of your so- called military manpower. But cornering the American's will cost you dearly - and then in turn your Nation will feel the wrath of USA firepower. None of us wants that - but if you keep pressing you will make one wrong mistake (and it's going to happen) - there won't be much bragging left to stop what will be coming your way!

My entire family tree has fought wars. From WW1 thru our current events leading up to today! Our country is battle-hardened. We don't want a war - but if push come's to shove - You're Going Down - as any other we've battled. We will no doubt kill many on both sides - but what will be left? How can you and other leaders live with that decision! I'm 75 but I can still take up arms for my country - and I will - if need be. China - N. Korea - Russia - and a few other little nations that will join in with you - will be cremated within hours of the first salvo.

And I say to China - Kim & Putin - you all ready to due battle - think on it - think real hard - dream it - and then look at all the corpses - men - women - children - all dead - because of you wanted to show force against your neighbor's and other countries.

Your palaces will now be underground (for decades to come) where you will now have to stay because of all the surface radiation that would kill whomever survives. In your dreams you will be haunted by the devastation of the world - eventually your food will be gone - hunger sets in - starvation and radiation is all you can look forward to. This applies to North Korea - China & Russia - and all those other radical countries wanting supreme power in the world.
