Exclamation Imagine you were born in 1900

Imagine you were born in 1900

Topic: “Imagine you were born in 1900.

On your 14th birthday, World War I starts, and ends on your 18th birthday. 22 million people perish in that war.

Later in the year, a Spanish Flu epidemic hits the planet and runs until your 20th birthday. 50 million people die from it in those two years. Yes, 50 million.

On your 29th birthday, the Great Depression begins. Unemployment hits 25%, the World GDP drops 27%. That runs until you are 33. The country nearly collapses along with the world economy. When you turn 39, World War II starts. You aren’t even over the hill yet.

And don’t try to catch your breath. On your 41st birthday, the United States is fully pulled into WWII. Between your 39th and 45th birthday, 75 million people perish in the war.

At 50, the Korean War starts. 5 million perish. At 55 the Vietnam War begins and doesn’t end for 20 years. 4 million people perish in that conflict.

On your 62nd birthday, you have the Cuban Missile Crisis, a tipping point in the Cold War. Life on our planet, as we know it, should have ended. Great leaders prevented that from happening.

When you turn 75, the Vietnam War finally ends. Think of everyone on the planet born in 1900. How do you survive all of that? When you were a kid in 1985 and didn’t think your 85-year-old grandparent understood how hard school was or how mean that kid in your class was. Yet they survived and often thrived.

Perspective is refined with time and enlightened by patience. Staying at home a couple of months doesn't really seem too tough after all.

Personal note: Kinda say's goes around comes around - Oh Boy humanity is always taken back by tragedy. It's like someone hit the Pause Button! Everything sorta slows down and then stops. No body on the streets - a few jocks running every morning with mask on.

All stores have lines (sounds like the depression once again). Marks on floors to indicate the appropriate distance between each other. Signs on windows sorry were closed due to the Coronovirus. Drive up windows only for take outs. Even the banks are closed except for drive thru's.
-
Stores looks like they never stock their shelves. Paper products wiped out 15 min after being restocked (if the truck showed up). Frozen foods wiped out. Bottled water also in short supply. Bill's keep rolling in. Less auto traffic the air seems cleaner of late.
-
What unusual no aircraft flying over to land at O'Hara? Saw one helicopter in the last three weeks.
-
Highways still have plenty of people on the road. Gas was 1.29 a gallon now up to 2.10 and climbing every week.
-
The only way to get medical attention is to go in ambulance. Doctor will call you on the phone and prescribe without even seeing you.
-
Now meat and potato shortages?
-
Bill's keep showing up - I know I said that - they keep coming in.
-
I've cleaned everything in the house five or times. Even my garage is clean and the cars are all cleaned - running out of things to do to stay busy!!
-
Grandkids are going nuts with no school and and no hanging out with the Bud's!
-

Oh yea this is the American Dream - God Help Us get over this medical issue.
