Had a friend who ran the same trail on foot a few years ago. Took him about 25 days.

39,

You are correct, about 1100 miles. Actually in his best year he did it in just over 22 days.

Thats pretty impressive.
Figure 6 hours sleep that leaves 18, at 3 mile per hour is a 20 min. mile. Thats achievable, But for 1100 miles? wow.

He is one neat guy. The ultimate competitor. Ran the Badwater Ultra and Iditasport Extreme within a 12 month period one time.

Badwater Ultra is 135-mile race starting below sea level in Death Valley and ending at the Mt. Whitney Portals about 8500 ft. above. 135 miles in about 130 degree temps in July. The year he did that it took him about 27 hours and he wasn't first.

Iditasport, just what it is. 1100 miles on the Iditarod Trail.

Neat guy. Honored to know him.

39,

Figure in sub-zero temps, snow storms, and hip-deep snow. Done about 2 weeks before the sled contest so conditions are the same.

Competitors have to pull a 40 lb. sled with essentials and survival gear, i.e. rations, small cook stove to melt snow, batteries for the headlamp, a few extra clothes, and not much else. They have to finish with the sled and the gear intact if they haven't had to use it to survive. They cannot dump anything along the way. They also have to carry enough cash to pay the bush pilot if they have to be rescued.

Talking My Plan is for Bob K.

Bob K. will pull me and the sled. I'll take his cigarettes away from him. He'll get agitated and need a cigarette, we'll win in record time as Brother Bob pushes ahead fearlessly for a cigarette. Should be a easy. All I have to do is eat and ride.
