"Ty" Dodge, originally from Temple, Texas served in the U.S. Army from 1968 until 1971. Ty went to South Vietnam in June 1969 as a member of I Troop, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. In country, he commanded 3rd Platoon as a 1st Lieutenant in III Corps around the Parrot's Beak and Fishhook areas. Ty left the RVN after he was wounded in a firefight at Firebase Buttons in November 1969. Interview conducted by Richard B. Verrone, Ph.D. |

Ralph Dresser volunteered to go to Vietnam as the commander in the Ranch Hand Defoliation Squadron. He was going to fly C-123 cargo planes. Colonel Dresser left for Vietnam in November of 1965 and returned to the United States November 1966. In 1968 he volunteered to go back to Vietnam with an A-37 squadron as an operations officer and he also served as an advisor to a Vietnamese fighter wing in Vinh Tau. In 1972 Colonel Dresser took a maintenance team to Iran to dismantle F-5s and took them to give to the Vietnamese. Col. Ralph Dresser retired from the Air Force in 1982. |
