Thumbs up RON

Thanks. I don't recall ever seeing one. I think I might have worn that as a combat patch just to be unique. Did you get your CIB in the Dominican Republic, or VN?

Ron is answering a question that I asked him about this patch over on the History Channel war board.
He had asked the question: What patch did you wear on your right shoulder? This was known as a "Combat Patch." For those of you who might not know, if you served with a unit in a combat zone you were authorized to wear that patch on your right shoulder when you left that unit. The unit patch of the unit that you were presently serving in was worn on the left shoulder. This was an Army thing. Ron was authorized the patch pictured above from serving in the Dominican Republic. He was also authorized to wear the 25th ID "Electric Strawberry" and the 4th ID "Ivy" patch from VN.

So, what was your "Combat Patch?" Mine was th 101st Airborne Div. "Screaming Eagle." If I had gone to another unit after returning from my 2nd tour instead of getting discharged, I would have been authorized to wear the 82nd Airborne Div. "Alcoholic Airborne" patch.

P.S. Ron, it looks like you have a pretty cool patch collection going there.

My ETS was from Vietnam,so the only uniform I ever wore again was the new set of Class-A greens they gave me at Ft Lewis.I seam to remember a MACV patch on the right shoulder and 20th Bgde on the left. This seem right?
