The Second Annual
SCV Salutes American Veterans
Saturday, September 17, 2005
11am -- 3pm
Carl Vinson VA Medical Center
1826 Veteran's Blvd. -- Dublin, Georgia

Sons of Confederate Veterans

Great Food & Fellowship * Live Music * Motorcycle Show * Wheelchair Show * Antique Cars on Display * Prizes for VAMC Patients * Keynote Speaker: Division Commander Jack Bridwell

The inaugural event in 2004 was a great success and the veterans overwhelmingly asked us to come back again this year. We hope to make the event bigger and better each year.

The Lt. James T. Woodward Camp 1399 and Clinch?s Cavalry Camp 2084 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, along with other Georgia SCV Camps is hosting a barbeque and entertainment event for the veterans at the VA hospital in Dublin, Georgia this coming September 17th. We are soliciting donations of goods or money from individuals and companies in support of this event to benefit our veterans. SCV is a non-profit 501.c.3 organization [www.scv.org]---donations are deductible. Our tax ID number for SCV Camp 1399 is 58-1596719. In addition, see information below on our Raffle.

Monetary donations can be made payable to "Carl Vinson VAMC" with a memo indicating the funds are for ?recreation.? The U.S. Veterans Administration provides no funding whatsoever for recreation for our hospitalized veterans; all recreation and entertainment they receive must be funded by private donations. If you desire your donation to be anonymous, please make checks payable to ?SCV Camp 1399? and we will ensure the privacy of your information.

SCV volunteers are coordinating the event in cooperation with Mrs. Cecilia Jones, Recreation Therapy Supervisor, Carl Vinson VAMC, in Dublin, Georgia. In a nutshell, we plan to feed and entertain the veterans, provide live musical entertainment and a motorcycle show, and give them some token gifts and sundry prizes. Most important will be to spend time with them visiting and talking. We invite all Georgia citizens---especially veterans----to join us there.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans will receive nothing from the event other than the satisfaction of doing something positive for our veterans. The first one in 2004 was a grand success and we hope to continue this as an annual event going forward. Jack Bridwell, Georgia Division SCV Commander, will again be the keynote speaker.

If you can donate food, picnic supplies or sundry gift items, they would be graciously received. We plan to distribute a program for the event and to acknowledge our donors and contributors on the program (unless anonymity is requested). Any support and assistance you may provide would be sincerely appreciated.

In addition, we're holding a raffle for a nice gas grill (donated by a generous contributor)---see below. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. To purchase tickets via U.S. mail, send checks payable to "SCV Camp 1399" in care of Russ Huffman, 2763 HWY 96 West, Jeffersonville, GA 31044 and indicate "grill raffle" on the memo line of the check. Please include your address and telephone if they're not on the check. See photo & info below.
