Default Deer Roast

Last night for supper I had a deer roast. It was so tender, a knife was not needed. I think I will have left overs today for lunch.MMMMM

Road kill, Ha Ha. Although not. I did one time. I watched a guy hit a axis deer and drove off. I stopped and threw the deer in the back of the truck, skinned it in my garage at home.

No I didn't kill it, a friend has an exotic game ranch and he shot a 4 year old doe white tail about 2 weeks ago. He gave me a hind leg, (about 35lbs).

I think Butchering a deer has little to do with how it taste after cooking, It's more the cooking than the cutting up of the meat.

An Elk roast would most likely be just about the same as a deer roast if cooked the same.

Ya can walk into almost any bar and buy "road kill " from the shelf like peanuts or beef jerky.

Deer meat is Deer Meat.

A road killed animal is dead, if it's a rabbit or a deer, there really isn't any reason to let it lay and go to waste.
I ran over a rabbit coming out of my parents place. I stopped. Picked up the rabbit, went back to my parents house and skinned the rabbit and put it in the freezer.
we had road kill the next night for supper.

Rabbit's tough, but put in a good marinade, can be very tasty.

Q steve
I don't no were you are getting your rabbit. But Northern rabbit is mighty good tasting and not tough at all. Southern rabbit is a bit stringy but that is because of the weather not the rabbit. Now Jack rabbit is tough but cook it longer and slower and it's ok. Kind of like eating crow, It's just a bird but a tough bird.

Ron
ps.
Did you ever here of Sail rabbit?
A rabbit gets hit by a car, and 500 more cars hit the rabbit making it flat.
You pick it up and sail it like a Frisbee. Sail rabbit.
Sail dog is a little more intence.
