Angry But For The Grace Of God

1-21-2018

“Is there no compassion left in the hearts of some within humanity?” And don’t some of these people realize that “But For the Grace of God”, they too could be destitute, hungry and homeless?

Granted, the dangers of communicable diseases (like hepatitis A), are a real and present danger to all! But for a nation that prides itself upon defending the entire world in one fashion or another, I find it disturbing that one city in particular (a suburb of San Diego), would make compassion and common decency a crime (Giving Food To The Homeless)?

“After all, did not even Jesus Christ assist the downtrodden?”

Lastly, would some also make it a crime for those of limited means to even breathe while within the city limits of some areas, or for the poor to rest their bones for a moment upon a park bench, or even to politely greet passers by?

And maybe while we are at it, we should also remove the famous words of Emma Lazarus (1849-1887) that reside upon the base of “Our Own Statue of Liberty?”

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.”

What is written at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty?
A:
Quick Answer
The plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty reads: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" These lines are from the poem "The New Colossus," written by Emma Lazarus in 1883. There is also a plaque with this same quote at the Statue of Liberty Museum.
Answer
The Statue of Liberty was given to America by France as a symbol of the alliance that was formed during the Revolutionary War. The statue was originally intended to be delivered in 1887 to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. However, it arrived in New York Harbor in June of 1885. The official dedication ceremony took place on October 28, 1986.

The Statue of Liberty stands just over 305 feet tall from the bottom of the pedestal to the tip of the torch. The tablets that accompany the statue are inscribed with the date July 4, 1776 in Roman numerals. Broken shackles appear near the bottom of the statue to represent freedom from oppression and tyranny. The shackles are meant to symbolize how America broke free from the rule of Britain during the Revolutionary War.

Where are the three Statues of Liberty?

Designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the most famous Statue of Liberty is found in the United States and graces the entrance to New York Harbor. The other two depictions of Liberty are much smaller and are located in Paris, France.
Full Answer
The first of the Parisian Liberties is found in the Jardin du Luxembourg (Luxembourg Garden). Erected in 1906, this Liberty is a miniature bronze model created by Bartholdi for use as a visual aid during the construction of the larger New York statue. The second Parisian Liberty is located on the Ile aux Cygnes (Island of Swans) in the Seine River, not too distant from the Eiffel Tower. This 37-foot high replica was erected on July 4, 1889 on the centennial of the Storming of the Bastille, in commemoration of both American Independence and the French Revolution.

All good points but not all work within the good book. They are like cattle whose only purpose is to run with the pack. The so-called leadership (as we all know) seems to lack the foresight or desire to do battle so its the put up or shut up attitude. Working in a pack such as they do can be disheartening and often times the best idea is booted by the majority. (those are the weak ones) but Why? Is the big question!?
