I Just Don't Think We Have It In Us

Throughout our tenure upon this planet, mankind has always had a lot to say, but has not always followed-up with any positive or constructive action! The problem is that this never seems to change, and the way that things are currently going, it is not likely to either?

It is not that humanity lacks the tools or the ability to walk among the gods, but with free will, also comes a stubborn streak a mile wide - and even systemic insanity at times! In short, we have indeed become legends in our own minds, and this has led us to the brink of destruction on more than one occasion, costing the lives of countless innocents in the process! As a matter of fact, if we keep practicing long enough, we may eventually get the job done right - for good and all!

They do say however, that mankind is the only species in existence that preys upon its own kind, which begs the question: “How much more could we as a race of thinking beings have accomplished, had we always directed our efforts toward building, instead of destroying?”

But what the Heck, no one is listening anyway, let alone giving any serious thought or consideration to what we already know to be a fact? So now we can all go back to sleep, until someday that nap becomes eternal! “Schlafen Gut!”

Is the day soon coming when someone will "push the button" and civilization be destroyed? Must we use all our energies to thwart such a scenario? Or is man headed for inevitable self-destruction, regardless of how we try to stop it?

Capitalism attacks and destroys all the finer sentiments of the human heart; it ruthlessly sweeps away old traditions and ideas opposed to its progress, and it exploits and corrupts those things once held sacred.

I think humans have always wrestled with the Divine Idea - an idea that unites and separates, creates and destroys, consoles and terrifies. Throughout human history, it is an idea that seems sometimes to have caused whole populations to rise up and slaughter one another.
