Default Timeline, September 9th

HISTORICAL:
September 1939 (Year of the Rabbit [Ky Mao]): France enters World War II against Japan's ally, Nazi Germany. The Japanese begin a propaganda and diplomatic campaign against the French life line to the Chinese government, but are unwilling to risk in a war in Indochina what can be quickly gained if Germany defeats France; they wait and they watch.

SECOND INDOCHINA WAR:
September 9, 1961 (Year of the Ox [Tan Suu]): VC overrun a platoon at an ARVN outpost northeast of Kontum.

September 9, 1963 (Year of the Hare [Quy Mao]) (US Advisory): A second television interview with President Kennedy, this time with Chet Huntley.

September 9, 1965 (Year of the Snake [At Ti]) (US Defense): Operation Highland update: Operation Cacti is conducted.

September 9, 1966 (Year of the Horse [Binh Ngo]): Arc Light update: The US 306th Bomber Wing and its component are deployed to provide personnel and aircraft to the program.

September 9, 1971 (Year of the Boar [Tan Hoi]) (US Consolidation I): South Korea announces the withdrawal of its 48,000 troops by June 1972.

September 9, 1972 (Year of the Rat [Nham Ty]) (US Cease-Fire): Nguyen Hue/Easter Offensive: With the ARVN Airborne Division now in position to protect their south flank, the South Vietnamese Marines initiate the main effort of the final push to retake Quang Tri City, attacking the Old Citadel. At the same time, U.S. and South Vietnamese forces conduct an "incomplete" amphibious assault on a beach north of the Cua Viet River as a diversion.

I wonderful young sergeant derosed and was discharged all on the same day. So what if they made 11 mistakes on my DD214, I was out. Got home, as in Dad and Mom's house and it was 11 PM, still on 9/9/69. Some kind of trip.
