French
Ya'll can think whatever you wish about the French,
Remember this, The French had over 5,000 troops with Washington against the British. The French were the ones in york towns harbor fireing on Cornwallis and contributing to his serender, and to the only battle that Washington won and the start of the end for British in the Americas.
The french suffered a revlution because of the help given to us in our revolution.
So , we think the French somehow inferior to us, as a fact, if it weren't for the French the us in US would not be there.
For all there faults, I say , to the French, if you ever need ME, I'll be there.

ps
The French don't owe us anything , we owe them our existance.

While I agree with you that French aid in men and material during the Revolution was of immense value, Yorktown was not the only battle Washington won. Let's not forget Trenton and Princeton, both of which were won with a vastly inferior force against well-trained, armed and highly disciplined European forces. Ol' George may not have been a great field general, but he was one of, if not the best, CinC we've ever had.

Before York town he only one 1 battle, I think, Against the Russian (Hessians) . After Yorktown the British went into the defeteus mode. But then I never studied George, He was a good president (but anyone would have done the same thing in the first ever term ) Ya kinda had to do certan stuff. Build a home, buy a bed, make rules etc.
Now days the French are worthless, But if it wasn't for them we would not be the United States.

Ron, Hessians were German mercs.

If I could post a picture of American Graves in France from WWI and WWII, under it I would say, "DEBT PAID IN FULL, AND THEN SOME". Had the British won we'd be speaking....English. Had we not bailed the French out in two World Wars, they'd be speaking German.

I would send my kid to Canada, not Quebec, before I would let him fight for the French. Screw those ungrateful bastards and the horse they rode in on.

Default Hey, Paco

Just got word through the grapevine that France needs Ron!

And oh, yeah, the French suffered through the French Revolution, I believe the only miliatry operation they ever won, not because of the aid and assistance they gave us, but because the French monarchy was corrupt, inept, self-serving and incompetent. Exactly like the current French government.

Save the horse, Paco, and just screw the Froggies.

Default France bashing...gotta love it...

Some random thoughts...

Comparing 18th century French with modern French, their military now would be pretty danged tough if their ranks were filled with 225 year old soldiers!

Years ago, the French were laughing at the US for getting involved in Vietnam, wondering how we expected to win using just force, when they (the French) couldn't do it using force and brains!

To which my response is (just 3 little words) -- Dien Bien Phu.

On a little more serious note, we honor the 58,000 Americans who died over there in 16 years (as is right and proper), but there aren't many (perhaps no) monuments in France to honor the 95,000 Frenchmen who died there in just 8 years!

Ron

The question to ask the French is what have you done for me lately? During WWII we did our bit to save their butts. But once more what have they done for us since? They don't back us up on issues that really matter - That's my feelings.

Pac
"Hessians were German mercs."
Yes, and that was Washingtons first victory.
And I agree , French suck, But they still were there in the revolution. Yah we have paid them back about a thousand times, and They could drop off the end of the world and nobody would care. Thats mainly of there doing, they could be a real friend and a goldmine for tourisum. I don't feel sorry for them one bit.
Boycot anything French.

Boats
The reason the French had a revolution is because Franklin talked them into helping us in our revolution (the them would be French monarchy) .The French monarchy was dethroned because of us.
Franklin was the one that sponcered the King, or what ever he was, in his exceptance as a Freemason. Franklin asked for help from a fellow Freemason and got it.
