Homeland Security
Re: https://www.dhs.gov/topic/preventing-terrorism-overview

Preventing Terrorism Overview:

Protecting the American people from terrorist threats is the reason the Department of Homeland Security was created, and remains our highest priority. Our vision is a secure and resilient nation that effectively prevents terrorism in ways that preserve our freedom and prosperity.

Subjects of daily importance:

1. Understanding Evolving and Emerging Threats
-
Terrorist tactics continue to evolve, and we must keep pace. Terrorists seek sophisticated means of attack, including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive weapons, and cyber attacks. Threats may come from abroad or be homegrown.
-
We must be vigilant against new types of terrorist recruitment as well, by engaging communities at risk being targeted by terrorist recruiters.

2. Improving Terrorism Prevention
-
The Department’s efforts to prevent terrorism are centered on a risk-based layered, approach to security in our passenger and cargo transportation systems and at our borders and ports of entry. It includes new technologies to:

National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) advisories communicate information about terrorist threats by providing timely, detailed information to the public, government agencies, first responders, public sector organizations, airports and other transportation hubs.

Using available information, the advisories will provide a concise summary of the potential threat, information about actions being taken to ensure public safety, and recommended steps that individuals, communities, businesses and governments can take to help prevent, mitigate or respond to the threat.

3. Detect explosives and other weapons
-
* Help protecting critical infrastructure and cyber networks from attack
* Build information-sharing partnerships
* We do this work cooperatively with other federal, state, local, tribal and territorial law enforcement as well as international partners.

3a. Weapons of Mass Destruction
-
The United States faces a rising danger from terrorists and rogue states seeking to use weapons of mass destruction. A weapon of mass destruction is a nuclear, radiological, chemical, biological, or other device that is intended to harm a large number of people. The Department of Homeland Security works every day to prevent terrorists and other threat actors from using these weapons to harm Americans.

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs):
-
DHS works to enhance the nation’s counter-IED capabilities and reduce the threat of explosive attack against critical infrastructure, the private sector, and federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial entities.

Critical Infrastructure Security:
-
Critical infrastructure describes the physical and cyber systems and assets that are so vital to the United States that their incapacity or destruction would have a debilitating impact on our physical or economic security or public health or safety.

NOTE: If You See Something, Say Something
RE: https://www.dhs.gov/see-something-say-something
A program to raise public awareness of indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime, and to emphasize the importance of reporting suspicious activity to the proper state and local law enforcement authorities.

CRITICAL: Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships
-
Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3) accomplishes a prevention mission by engaging and collaborating with local communities to enable education, awareness, and training programs that work to build a whole-of-society prevention architecture. Ultimately, the core goal of CP3’s prevention efforts is to equip and empower local efforts—including peers, teachers, community leaders, and law enforcement—to prevent individuals from mobilizing to violence before it becomes a law enforcement matter.

It's up to all of us to be aware and to notify the Office of Homeland Security.

Note: Homeland Security No FEAR Act Reporting
-
Section 202(a) of the Notification and Federal Employee Antidiscrimination and Retaliation (No FEAR) Act, Pub. L. 107-74, Title I, General Provisions, Section 101(1), requires each federal agency to provide written notification of the rights and protections available to federal employees, former federal employees, and applicants for federal employment under federal antidiscrimination and whistleblower laws listed in the No FEAR Act. In support of this requirement, Secretary Napolitano issued a memo to all Department employees reiterating the Department’s commitment to the No FEAR Act of 2002. In addition, the Secretary issued a new anti-discrimination policy statement.

It's up to all of us to be aware - If You See Something - Say Something!
-
Across the country, in our communities, we share everyday moments with our neighbors, family, coworkers, and friends. We go to work or school, the grocery store, or the gas station. It's easy to overlook these routine moments, but as you’re going about your day, if you see something that doesn't seem quite right, say something. By being alert and reporting suspicious activity to your local law enforcement, you can protect your family, neighbors, and community.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personal Note: Every neighborhood or city across the United States has a responsibility to be another set of eye's for improper issues underway. This could save lives and your neighborhood from disastrous end results.

O Almighty Lord God, who neither slumberest nor sleepest; Protect and assist, we beseech thee, all those who at home or abroad, by land, by sea, or in the air, are serving this country, that they, being armed with thy defence, may be preserved evermore in all perils; and being filled with wisdom and girded with strength, may do their duty to thy honour and glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
