Question What If - Gulf War I

Have you ever stopped to wonder what might be going on in Iraq right now, if the entire Iraqi Army had been wiped-out back in 1991?

And what would have happened if - after utterly obliterating that army of thugs, looters and rapists, in the desert outside of Kuwait, we had gone directly into Baghdad and points north, sweeping the nation clean of this enemy, and then withdrew in rapid order, sought of like Israel have done once or twice?

Should this have been the case, would some other faction or strongman have stepped right in to fill the gap? Maybe even Iran might have seized upon the opportunity to take over a weakened Iraq?!

Could it be that a hypothetical move like this by Iran would have prompted us to march into the Middle East again, this time taking out a pre-nuclear Iran?

And would affirmative action like this have expanded conflict in the region (and beyond), or would it have sent a clear and timely message to the North Koreans and other wannabe aggressors?

Granted - ?THAT?S A LOT OF WHAT-IFS?, but one thing is for damned sure. We are currently becoming engaged in a super-expensive rebuilding project, and this money is going to have to come from somewhere!! And the people of this region that we are planning to rebuild, may soon forget the sacrifices made in their names, and the blood spilled to secure their liberty. They sure as hell did in Germany and France did they not?!

Oh well, I guess that it is just the nature of the beast? ?Tell that to your grandkids in say, another decade or two!!? Unfortunately, however, maybe we won?t even have that long to wait?
