Navy Brat here David. All the men in my family on my fathers side have been in Navy since Civil War. The list is long and somewhat distinguished. Good life it was and I loved being at Corpus growing up and then dad took flight instructor stat at Pensacola-NAS. I also hate the color green.

Welcome to the site Spanky. Glad to have you aboard. I do not know much about our military history before WWII but everyone was Navy back until then. Of course I had to go and join the Army, go figure hehe

No, I just figured I knew everything there was to know about the Navy from growing up around it and wanted to try something else. Of course I did not know everything about anything and still don't. Another impetus to join the Army came from my Dad. He always told me that during a war the Navy floated the Marines and Army over, the Marines went out and did the hard stuff like clearing paths up the beach, and then the Army marched in and got all of the glory. I guess I was really looking for that glory

Spanky,

I don't know if I'm a Navy Brat but my Uncle was in WWII in the Navy Coxman. My Dad was Army in the Alutians. My Grandpa was in WWI and he was in the Army in Europe. My Brother was in the Army in VN and died of complications from agent orange. I served 12 years in the Navy from 1963 to 1975 did two tours VN.

Now I have two daughter who are both married and have kids so they aren't going anywhere. My Uncles four Boy's all went to college none of them went in. I can only hope my Grandson takes up the family pride by doing his bit if and when his time comes.

Being a military brat isn't that bad except you better get used to moving around. That can be tough on kids and wives. But you will see the world depending on the type of work you are involved in.

I'd guess you can call us military civil servants as well.

Welcome to the site we're glad to have ya on board.
